Nice conditioner

Leaves your hair soft and manageable but stains your hands so make sure to wash them immediately. Has not really made any difference to my hair colour though.

Works to reduce orange brassy tones on dark brown/black hair

I've got dark brown/ black hair that I got highlighted recently and my hairdresser convinced me that I had to bleach my hair and then tone it to an ash blonde. So she did as she told me and when we were done it was evening and getting dark and my hair looked pretty decent for the rest of the evening. The next day when the sun was out and I took a look my hair was orange, the orange that grey hair turns when you use henna. Luckily my highlights were not on the top of my head but on the sides, and I could cover it up with the top of my hair. I researched into violet shampoos that were supposed to neutralise the brassy tones, but those did not work like I wanted them to, the brassiness remained. Then I found that blue shampoos or darker were better on darker hair and found the black malva. I've used a few times now and this is what I thought. First off the conditioner needs to stay in for quite a while otherwise your hair will feel dry and frizzy. Made that mistake and worried that this wouldn't help my hair either, but the longer you leave it in the softer your hair gets. Next, the conditioner makes a complete mess of your hands and nails which takes a few washes to remove, and this is why I've given it 4 stars. I need this conditioner but my hands are not happy. And the result - my hair gets more dark ashy blonde and looks much much much better! I am so happy that there is some product that will fix this mess and leave my hair looking much better than I expected. My next highlighting session will be at Aveda, they definitely know what they're doing! PS: I also use a bit of argan oil or macadamia oil to soothe my hair after using this shampoo conditioner duo. I'm used to the Redken all soft range so my hair loves argan oil and black malva is not as nourishing as my redken (which I still use in between using this product).

Excellent!

Excellent product. Does exactly as it said it would. Leaves my hair glossy and healthy looking and covers up the greys nicely. Definitely recommend this product for anyone who wants a natural colour without having to use chemicals all the time.

I use this as a daily conditioner after the black malva shampoo. I pop a shower cap on and leave in for around 5 minutes. Using this product has helped me go almost 12 weeks between colouring my blonde hair dark! Definitely recommend this product for reducing costly trips to the hairdressers!

Dark shiny hair

This Aveda Black Malva Colour Conditioner really works! I hope by using it long term, I won't have to dye my hair so often as I've got lots of grey hair to hide.

Good

I've only used this a few times - it does what it says on the tin - just beware that it can create quite a mess in your shower as the product itself is quite black which you can see for a while on your hands after!

Good product

I bought this product as not living close to an Aveda clinic I wanted to try and prolong the colour treatment I had recently done. I had read reviews about the product staining etc. so by precaution I used throwaway gloves. Thankfully there was no staining neither on me or in bathroom... Definitely something to use between professional colouring to help maintain colour.

Cool tones at last!

For so long, brassiness and warm (gingery!) tones have been my biggest hair hassle. I dye my hair a medium brown, and after a few washes, no matter how ash/cool the dye, it starts to turn warm again. I've spent forever searching for a toner that I can use without having to go to the salon, and I've finally found it. I left this Aveda Black Malva Colour Conditioner on for 20 minutes as my hair was quite warm, and when I took it off...voila! Beautiful, shiny, cool, dark hair! The smell is gorgeous too. This will be my staple hair product from now on!

Black Malva The best Product I have ever used on my hair

I washed my hair with the black Malva shampoo first then put on some disposable gloves and added the conditioner. I left it on for about 5 minutes as I wanted to tone down brassy highlights. Rinsed and it worked! It does exactly what people said it would. Cheaper than going back to the salon and my hair looks amazing. It has enhanced my natural deep brown hair and worked like a salon toner to correct the brassy highlights. It has also toned down any grey so it looks like I don't have any now!

Review of Aveda Black Malva Colour Conditioner (250ML)

Good but not so special. Other conditioners may be better. Did nothing for the colour o my hair but did stain my hands. Try washing your hand using an exfoliant or body scrub.

Great conditioner

Really please with purchase, this conditioner brings out the dark colours in my hair and makes my original colour last longer .... Great smell too :-) it doesn't stain my hands as it suggests in other reviews, I wash it off as soon as I've rubbed it into my hair, leave it on for 5 mins and wash out, so simple with great results.

shiney barnett

I have nearly brought this so many times but was concerned about the smell and the mess - I'm so glad I gave this conditioner a try. It has washed off my hands easily and I love the smell. My hair felt fab afterwards and gave it a lovely shine. Wish I had also brought the matching shampoo which will be my next purchase.

A must have conditioner!

I have left a review for the black Malva shampoo already and just wanted to add how fantastic this conditioner is I use it once a week as a deep conditioning colour penetrating treatment as my hair is now shorter I apply it with gloves as it does stain instantly though that shows how good the colour strength is to me. I apply root to tip and leave on for at least half an hour. It leaves hair vibrantly black and glossy. The tube is lasting me much longer now though I would still repeat purchase if I used it every day!. It is a use have item ad prolongs my need to dye my hair for a few more weeks.

Great product - but why no body got my problem as it also makes my nails blackish. I need to put on plastic gloves when washing or conditioning my hair.

IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TUBE

The Black Malva Conditioner left my fine, flyaway hair glossy, healthy looking with a soft touch without weighing my hair down. It did exactly what is says it would, it is great for dark coloured hair. It is 10/10. You have to try it!

Worth its price

This is a truly wonderful conditioner for dark hair. After one wash, it left my hair supershiny, weightless and silky and what's best, it took away the brassiness. The scent is strong at first, but doesn't linger overmuch after rinsing. It also washes well away from skin and hands.

it does what its job

This conditioner is excellent to keep your coloured hair shiny, dark and without red hues! I can now extend time between hair salon appointments as my colour still looks fresh after 5-6 weeks! Although it doesn't have smell of a basket of fruits, it actually conditions your hair with lots of non-artificial ingredients. Yes, it does leave your hands dark but ladies that's what shower gels for:)

Perfect with the Shampoo

My natural dark brown shade is now revived and looking beatiful after a lot of bleaching, highlights and has returned to natural (that was difficult to keep, 'cause hair was very porous and faded quickly). Along with the shampoo, a perfect duo to keep dark hair looking fab!
