The Best Products for Coloured Hair

The Best Products for Coloured Hair

Whether you experiment with fun shades, enhance your natural tones or like to cover any sneaky greys, there are lots of us with coloured hair. We’re pulling together some of the best products around that will keep your colour looking salon-fresh.

We love the glossy results we get when we’re straight out of the salon but that can fade quickly. Sunlight, heat and washing can all leave coloured hair looking dull, brassy and lifeless but there are lots of treatments around that can help prevent that.

From styling mists with SPF, shampoos that don’t strip colour or dye and masks that restore vibrancy and softness, we have everything you could want to protect your colour.

The Shampoos and Conditioners

Shampoos for coloured hair need to be gentle, so that you don’t strip the colour. Then conditioners can often be used to colour correct and tone, keeping your colour vibrant for longer.

There are lots to choose from, but some of our favourites are by Pureology, Shu Uemura, Redken and Matrix.

The Treatment Masks

Dye can make hair dry, brittle and prone to breakage. Keep things soft and supple with an intense treatment mask. We like to use one about once a week.

From the cult Elasticizer by Philip Kingsley to brands like Christophe Robin who have a mask for every hair colour, these are the ones that hit the top of our list:

The Finishing Sprays

Locking in shine and protecting against UV and pollution, finishing sprays are the ultimate final touch for anyone wanting to look after their hair colour.

Whether you want to add a little bit of moisture, hold or protection, these are the ones to go for:

The Best Products for Blondes and Redheads

These are the colours that tend to fade fastest so there are lots of specialist products which work specifically for those hair colours, keeping them looking as beautiful as the day they were first dyed.

Blonde hair has a tendency to get brassy and dehydrated. Products which help tone and nourish are essential. In comparison, red hair tends to fade out to look dull and lifeless. Treatments that boost the red and also contain very gentle cleansers to avoid stripping colour are ideal.
