Long Lasting Makeup

On the longest day of the year, we need our makeup to stand up to everything it holds. Busy commutes, work meetings, school runs and evenings laughing with our friends; whatever your day involves, this is the makeup that we rely on to last all day long.

Primer

A primer not only helps smooth and perfect any imperfections but it also helps makeup stay on the skin. If you need your makeup to keep looking flawless, it is an essential first step.

Oily skins need to try the Illamasqua Matte Veil Primer, which will leave skin looking flawless. If you’re on a budget, the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer packs a powerful punch and for drier skins, the Zelens Satin Primer gives a radiant and smooth finish.

A new discovery for us is the Manuka Doctor ApiRefine Flawless Primer– if it is good enough for Kourtney Kardashian, we’re sold.

Foundation & Concealer

Some foundations and concealers are better than others at lasting on the face. Generally oil-free formulas are best and applying them in lots of thin layers will help the coverage last for longer.

Our go-to flawless finish foundation is the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation, which covers any blemishes or scars and lasts all day long. Paired with the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer, it keeps looking incredible for hours.

One of our favourite drugstore options is the Revlon Colorstay Make-Up Foundation– there is a version for both dry and oilier skin types. As a luxury choice, you can’t find better than the Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation.

Eye Makeup

Looking for waterproof or smudge-free mascara and eyeliner will make sure your eyemakeup doesn’t slide. Paired with long-lasting cream eyeshadows you can rock a beautiful eye look without any risk of turning into a panda after a few hours.

For mascara we adore the Natio Extreme Volume Smudge Proof Mascara and as a liner, the bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner gives an amazing flick that won’t budge.

To add colour, we swear by the New CID Cosmetics I – Colour Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow for a touch of glow and the Lancôme Ombre Hypnôse Stylo 24H Cream Eye Shadow Sticks for incredible colour.

Don’t forget the brows; try the Stila Waterproof Brow Colour to make sure your eyes are framed beautifully all day long.

Lip Colour

For the lips, we love a matte finish or a stain, for colour that stays vibrant and bright without the risk of smudging.

Try the Lord & Berry 20100 Matte Lipstick Pencil for beautiful neutral shades and the Daniel Sandler Luxury Matte Lipsticks are amazing for a bolder statement.

If you prefer a bit of a sheen, then try the PUR Summer Collection Pout Pen, which is a stain and a balm. Full on gloss addicts needed despair either as the Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Gloss is designed to stay on the lips for up to 24 hours (we dare you to put it to the test!).

Setting Spray & Powder

The final essential to keeping makeup in place is to set it well. With powders or mists, make sure that your base stays put no matter what you get up to.

For powders, choose a fine, translucent powder like the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder and the INIKA Mineral Setting Powder.

We love makeup setting sprays and the best ones around are the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Fixing Mist, for an affordable everyday mist, the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist for a beautifully scented skincare boost and the Japonesque Make Up Setting Spray for a professional finish.
