Tips for Cleansing your Skin with Sian Jones

While the New Year is upon us and whilst the weather is nippy, lots of us are looking to overhaul our usual skincare regimens. We are always on the lookout for expert tips for cleansing your skin so when we caught up with Sian Jones, the Co-Creator of Balance Me, we couldn’t help but ask all about her cleansing routine.

Question: What does your ideal cleansing routine consist of?
Answer:

I believe in a really simple, fuss-free cleansing routine. I alternate my cleanser depending on how my skin is feeling day-by-day. If I want a gentle exfoliation I will use our Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm which is a hot cloth cleansing balm. To use this, I massage directly into dry skin, then add warm water until an emulsion is created. The Fine Oat Powders help to slough away dead skin cells while Mango, Shea and Cocoa Butters deeply hydrate. I like to leave this on my skin for a few minutes before removing with a damp muslin cloth. If I am shorter on time or wanting a luxurious cream cleanser, I’ll reach for our Collagen Boost Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser which you can massage onto the skin and remove with a muslin cloth in 2 minutes!

Question: Should you change your skincare routine and products in the colder months?
Answer:

The changing temperatures of cold air and central heating can strip your skin of moisture and cause it to become dry or dehydrated so it is important to keep up your hydration levels. I would really recommend introducing our Radiance Face Oil or Rose Otto Face Oil into your skincare routine. Both should be used before applying moisturiser and they help to offer deep down hydration to the skin. Radiance Face Oil is great for boosting the radiance of your skin, plus reducing redness and scarring while our Rose Otto Face Oil helps to hydrate and strengthen sensitive skin.

Question: When cleansing, how important is it to use a facial massaging technique?
Answer:

A lot of people omit thorough cleansing from their daily routine, so I think the most important thing is to encourage people to invest in a good-quality cleanser that they will use twice daily. Facial massaging whilst cleansing will of course help boost results; I recommend applying cleanser using upward, outward strokes to boost your skin’s circulation and encourage a beautiful radiant glow. Our new Collagen Boost Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser is very quick and easy to use for all skin types, including very sensitive. Simply massage into the skin with fingertips and rinse skin clean with water, or remove with cotton pads if skin is very sensitive. It can remove all traces of make-up (including waterproof mascara) in 2 minutes, plus helps to hydrate skin and offer anti-ageing protection.

I am a big believer in the idea that beautiful Make Up begins with a superb skincare regime. I like to enhance my natural beauty rather than cover up and I am always on the lookout for great products which really work. When I am not writing about all things beauty, I like to do Yoga and I make an amazing brownie. It is all about balance!
