Hiya! I’m Danielle from www.danielleyc.com and I’m super excited about being this weeks BeautyHub blogger of the week. I’m here to talk a little about me and my blog, some of my favourite products, and some beauty and blogger tips.
I started my blog a few years back as a place to share some of my illustration and design work, but last summer I decided to change the direction of my blog to be beauty, fashion and lifestyle focused as this is what the blogs I enjoyed reading wrote about. Now that I’ve started blogging about beauty I just can’t stop, I absolutely love trying the latest nail products, and I’m a self confessed hair junkie!
As I’m graduating from my graphic design degree in July I thought I’d share my 5 must have products for graduation, but they’d also be great for a summer wedding, prom or even just a cheeky treat for yourself.
First up is Cowshed Udderly Gorgeous Bath Salts, perfect for a nice pamper the day before if you’re a bit nervous/stressed as they contain ingredients perfect for relaxation, and they just smell absolutely amazing. The salts contain buckthorn oil, and are packed full of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids to protect and pamper skin. These bath salts are also really good for mums to be!
A firm favourite of mine to use before a special occasion is Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque, it just leaves my hair feeling silky soft, frizz free and smelling gorgeous! Perfect if your going to be in front of the camera for most of the day.
For nails I recommend Nails inc. Bling it On Romance Collection, I recently tried this kit myself and instantly fell in love. The set is made up of 2 mini polishes in a lovely purple nude tone, and a silver glitter, Swarovski crystals, 4 bows, cuticle sticks and nail glue. It’s super easy to use, and you can make a look that’s really subtle or completely OTT depending on what you like.
Lipstick Queen is probably my favourite lipstick brand, the formulas are super silky and they have a sheer finish. My favourite is probably denim queen, but I thought Butterfly Ball Shimmer Lipstick would be nicer for a special day. I have Goodbye which is super pretty, but I’d probably choose something lighter like Sigh or Smitten.
Finally, my last must have is Benefit Sugarbomb Face Powder, a natural look blush which builds extremely well, which means you can have something subtle, or build up a really nice flushed cheek look. The box is made up of rose, shimmering pink, soft plum and peach, and you can wear them all together or choose your favourite to wear.
I thought I’d share some quick beauty tips I’ve learned over the last year which are:
1. Always make sure you have time to rectify when using tans, and hair masks, you never know if your going to turn out paler than you’d hoped, or even worse, streaky! Plus I’ve had to re-rinse my hair half way through blow drying because I’ve accidentally left some mask in my hair and it looks greasy so many times!
2. Use nail polish remover before painting your nails even if you don’t have polish on as this removes any oils which are sitting on your nails giving you a better manicure.
3. If your trying to grow your hair, try not to wash and style everyday, I’ve noticed my hairs grown a lot quicker, and is healthier thanks to the addition of dry shampoo into my beauty regime.
When it comes to blogs, I tend to choose to follow blogs that have big clear photos, as the you can see what they’re showing you if it’s a beauty review or recipe etc. I also love clean designs, no curly writing over a patterned background! I don’t really have any tips for content as I think different things work better for different people, just write about what you enjoy because if you enjoy writing about something it will show in your posts.
I hope you enjoyed my feature as much as I enjoyed writing it, and I’d love it of you popped on over to my blog sometime!
