January is here, which means so are the wellness trends for 2018. With a focus on clean beauty and looking after our mental wellbeing, we think this year is going to be all about self-care, and we couldn't be happier.

With the festivities, chocolate and too many snowballs well out the way, it's time to do a mini detox and get our skin, mind and wellbeing back into shape.

1. Air purifying

This is about to become one of the biggest wellness trends for 2018. Alex Steinherr has even invested in an air purifier and it's only the 2nd January.

Essentially, air purifying helps to keep the atmosphere around you super healthy and clean; perfect for skin and overall wellness.

If you don't want to invest in an expensive air purifier, try making your own living wall with healthy plants like Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus. Pinterest has stated that search terms for "air purifier" and "air purifying plants" are up +270%. Time to jump on the wellness trend before it hits its peak fashionable moment.

2. Non-toxic or "clean" beauty

Another huge trend which seems to be growing each year is the clean beauty space. People are wanting more non-toxic products to include in their skin, hair and makeup routines, which have positive effects on the skin and body thanks to their combination of amazing and natural ingredients.

One of our favourite brands is RMS Beauty, a brand loved by everyone from Miranda Kerr to Emma Watson.

Seen as one of the biggest trends for 2018 is glossed everything, we have to hero the Lip Shines; coconutty concoctions designed to add radiance to lips.

3. Turmeric

You'd be fooled if you think turmeric has had its moment. Carrying on from the wellness trends of 2017, expect to see a lot of turmeric lattes and smoothies popping up on menus.

It's excellent at reducing inflammation, making it a great January detox ingredient when healthy eating has gone out the window and you need to get back on track. Helping to minimise the appearance of redness and blemishes, it's one of our favourite beauty trends to date.

4. Vitamin regimes

Carrying on with the whole wellness element, vitamin regimes are about to become one of the biggest wellness trends for 2018.

Get into the habit of understanding your body and what it needs the most. If you are feeling tired, lethargic, anxious, stressed or upset, try and understand why and adjust your routine accordingly. In addition, vitamins will help support your skin, body and mind.

One of the best vitamins you can take in the winter months is Vitamin D, otherwise known as the "sunshine vitamin." It's great for keeping skin, bones and teeth healthy, and is something we often lack when we don't get enough sunlight; aka all year in the UK.

In addition, make sure you review where you're not getting enough vitamins and minerals, your skin and body will both thank you.

5. Activated charcoal

Like turmeric, activated charcoal is still hogging the beauty limelight, and rightly so. One of the biggest wellness trends for 2018 focusses on anti-pollution, and this miracle ingredient helps keep your complexion free from pollution particles.

The dark powder acts as a magnet to all impurities and dirt, pulling them out so your skin stays clear and healthy. One of our favourite products is undoubtedly the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant.

6. Esoteric healing

This one you may not have heard of, but essentially it's the art of Reiki. Self-healing and self-awareness are about to become huge wellness trends for 2018 as we look to really look after ourselves, and esoteric healing is about to become the trendiest way to do so.

A Japanese technique, it is believed to reduce stress, sore muscles and anxiety as it brings you into a world of relaxation. Whether you believe in a holistic approach to your health or not, an hour reducing stress is something we would never say no to.
