René Furterer: The Parisian Hair Secret

René Furterer: The Parisian Hair Secret

The Parisians have always had the world under their spell. Today, Paris still holds a little bit of magic, not least because it is the home of so many of our favourite beauty brands, like the amazing René Furterer. We went along to their Parisian hair salon with 3 lovely beauty influencers to learn all about the brand and their latest innovations.

Who is René Furterer?

A hairstylist in the 1950s, René Furterer was an innovator in haircare. He believed in the power of essentials oils and plants to care for the hair and opened the René Furterer Insititute in 1957; the first spa for hair.

The idea was a combination of massage and specialist hair treatments to nourish the hair, all in a luxurious environment; a totally new concept in 1957 and one that has now been adopted by many leading salons since.

Today the spa is still working, tucked into a pretty corner of Paris and the René Furterer brand has been enhanced by the scientific excellence of Pierre Fabre Laboratories, specialists in haircare technologies.

The René Furterer Experience

The René Furterer philosophy is that hair health starts at the scalp and all of the products work on this basis. With powerful blends of innovative ingredients and natural botanicals, this is luxurious Parisian haircare.

Beautiful hair grows from a healthy scalp, just like a plant in fertile soil. René Furterer

We packed up our bags and headed to Paris, along with Sabrina, Meg and Beth, to find out more about the whole René Furterer experience.

The Products

On being welcomed into the René Furterer HQ, we were introduced to their products.

All of them use a blend of gorgeous essential oils and botanical extracts, which not only means they smell divine but they also nourish your hair and target specific problems.

There are products for every hair type, ranging from treatments to everyday essentials.

Some of the standouts are the oil treatments, like the classic COMPLEXE 5 Active Concentrate Hair Treatment, and the new 5 Sens Oil, which Meg fell totally in love with.

The first uses complexes of botanical oils that can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment 1-2 times a week; place a few drops onto the hands and massage into the scalp and leave for 10 minutes before washing as usual. It helps improve the effectiveness of your haircare by 10, leaving your hair looking incredible.

The second is soon to launch but works for body body and hair, as a dry oil while styling your hair, as an intense treatment and as an incredible scented body oil.

We also discovered the newest range, Absolue Kératine, which is a godsend for overprocessed, brittle hair. Packed with Camelina Oil and innovative plant based keratin and sterols, it helps to leave hair soft and supple. Did we mention it smells amazing?

The Treatments

In the quiet of the private salon rooms at the René Furterer Insititute, the girls were treated to the full brand experience.

First, they had their hair diagnosis to identify their hair’s needs; René Furterer like to do this with every client.

Meg and Sabrina 1200x672

Then they were given the full treatment ritual: Prepare, Wash and Treat. The pre-shampoo preparation helps to enhance the effectiveness of the active ingredients and throughout the wash and treatment, the girls had their scalps massaged with the signature René Furterer methods.

After their pampering, the final touch was a blow dry, leaving the girls smiling over their beautiful glossy locks.

We wish we could have this treatment every week but luckily, the beautiful products make the at-home version almost as luxurious! Discover the full range of René Furterer on Lookfantastic today.

Beauty is my absolute passion and even having worked in the Beauty Industry for six years, I still love to spend my spare time trying out new discoveries. From red lipsticks to electrical facial devices, I'm always willing to trial the next best beauty product. When I'm not at work I try to explore the USA, so I'm always on the hunt for mini beauty samples to pop in my travel bag for my next flight to NYC.
