Beauty powders are pretty new on the skincare scene, yet they're already fast becoming some of our favourite products.

Not only are they incredibly handy when travelling (as they are free from liquid), they contain potent actives, which when mixed with water form a powerful foam.

There's lots of beauty powders to choose from depending on what you want them to do, but here are some of our favourites that are brilliant for all skin types.

Vitamin C powder

One of the most powerful antioxidants in skincare, Vitamin C is great for brightening dulling skin tones and reducing the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

Philosophy's Turbo Booster Vitamin C Powder comes from cult brand Philosophy, and is a potent and topical form of Vitamin C which can either be used on its own or mixed with a water-based moisturiser. With a 99.8% concentration of Vitamin C, the powder helps to neutralise free radicals and shield the skin against powerful aggressors. If you suffer from skin sensitivity don't worry, it contains camellia oil, which soothes and moisturises dehydrated skin.

If you prefer to get your daily dose of Vitamin C through your cleanser, you will Clinique's Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser. Made with pure Vitamin C, which activates when mixed with water, the cleanser purifies, refines and visibly brightens the complexion.

Charcoal powder

Known for its abilities to detoxify the skin, charcoal is a great ingredient to use in your skincare routine if you live in a polluted city. It binds to the damaging impurities on your skin and pulls the dirt out, so when you rinse it away, it takes all those pollutants with it. Discover more about its potent abilities here.

Dermalogica's Daily Superfoliant is one of our favourite charcoal powder formulas. Made with Activated Binchotan Charcoal, which helps to dissolve impurities and dirt from deep within the pores, the powder is brilliant for revealing a clarified and renewed complexion. It's worth noting that Dermalogica's charcoal powder is to be used after cleansing and before moisturising.

If you have particularly oily skin, you will love the Origins Clear Improvement Powder Cleanser. It contains Bamboo Charcoal, which works to draw impurities from the skin and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, a skin concern which is nearly almost prevalent in oilier complexions.

Rice powder

A common ingredient in Asian beauty routines, rice powder has incredible oil-absorbing properties that help to reduce shine and excess sebum on the skin, making it great for anyone with blemish or acne-prone complexions.

Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant is a cult classic, and the formula that inspired their newer, charcoal-based Superfoliant. The original contains declogging rice powder, which helps to gently exfoliate and leave the skin looking smoother and brighter. It's also especially great for combination complexions as it contains salicylic acid to battle blemishes and breakouts.
