How To Treat Damaged Hair With Shu Uemura

How To Treat Damaged Hair With Shu Uemura

Shu Uemura is a brand I am more familiar with for their makeup collections, with a particular soft spot for the ‘Shupette’ collection which features Karl Lagerfeld’s fluffy feline companion. When it came to their haircare range, it was an entirely new discovery and I was pretty excited to give it a go! My hair has been through a great deal during the years since I discovered hair dye and curling tongs, so I am always interested to see how to treat damaged hair with higher end products versus their affordable high street counterparts.

The first thing I noticed about the Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner was the lovely dark green bottles. With the conditioner being in a pump it also reassured me that the formula would only need the smallest amount to provide a really good boost of moisture to my hair. I was expecting big things from the duo already, but would it be the hair product of dreams I was hoping for?

What Does The Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy Duo Aim To Do?

The innovative formula of the Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy range claims to re-balance your scalp and enhance the health and appearance of your hair with each wash. With Lotus Infusions and Ceramide within the formula, it promises to strengthen your hair and give salon-worthy shine; restoring the fibres of your hair. Perfect if your have brittle, colour damaged locks like mine!

Review Of The Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy Collection

I opened the bottle of the Shampoo and expected a tropical scent to emerge, but instead, the fragrance smelled quite salon-esque and professional. I really liked it, but I must admit, I had built it up in my head that I was going to smell mangoes and coconuts!

Wetting my hair thoroughly I lathered in a small amount of the shampoo. Upon rinsing, my hair already felt silkier than usual. I then used 2-3 pumps of the conditioner to run through the ends of my hair. I felt like I hadn’t distributed enough product through at first, but once again, after rinsing, my hair felt really soft and smooth. Once I had blown dried my hair I found my hair to be supple and feel much healthier than it had done in months. However, it didn’t seem to have the luxurious finish I had built myself up towards. Perhaps completing my haircare routine with a serum from the range would enhance the experience and give me the desired finish in future.

As the range contains Ceramide, I have no doubt that with continued use my hair will fully enjoy the long term benefits of the formula and its overall health and hydration levels will improve.

I’ve been dying my hair since I was around 14. After years of not looking after it properly (avoiding hairdressers at all costs) and using chemical processes, it has resulted in dry, damaged, brittle hair which literally snaps off. Not to mention the abundance of split ends too!
