With all the different types of face masks available; wet, dry, mud and peel (among many others), it can often be difficult to decide on which one is right for you. So here at Lookfantastic, we’ve decided that every week we will celebrate #FaceMaskFriday by trialing a a face mask and telling you all you need to know about it.

First up, Terri is trying the new Caudalie Purifying Mask. Caudalie’s exciting range of face masks are suitable for daily use, which makes them a fantastic addition to your skincare routine!

Caudalie Purifying Face Mask - Terri

Skin type

Oily and combination skin types who are more prone to breakouts.

Ingredients

Perfect mix of white clay, kaolin and zinc to help control sebum regulation and reduce the appearance of blemishes.  It also has some beautiful essential oils and natural plant based astringents such as lavender, cypress and sage.

The Verdict

As I have dry yet blemish prone skin, I’m always a little apprehensive when it comes to trying new products aimed at clearing spots as they tend to dry my skin completely out. Because the Caudalie Purifying Mask contains gentle ingredients such as lavender oil and grape seed oil, I knew it was worth giving a go, as I figured any drying ingredients would be counteracted by the moisture that oils deliver to your skin.

Thankfully, this lightweight, creamy face mask really agreed with my skin and managed to reduce the redness and size of a recent cluster of spots on my cheek within around ten minutes! My skin felt really soft and hydrated afterwards and it seemed to balance out my complexion – rather than suck all the moisture and oil out of it like regular products aimed at blemish prone skin do. I’ve also been applying a dab of the mask over night to target more persistent spots and it works a treat.   A little goes a long way and unlike many face masks I’ve used, it doesn’t dry out and feel tight or uncomfortable when you’re waiting for it to work its magic!

Top Tip

If you have skin which demands all kinds of pamper then use these masks as targeted treatment to give your skin exactly what it needs.  After a long hard day, I like to combine the moisturizing mask for my cheeks and the instant detox mask on my t-zone to give my skin a little energy kick.
