5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day

5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day

While Valentine’s Day may be at the forefront of most minds this month, let’s not forget to celebrate our friends and share the love with our best gals this Galentine’s Day. Lookfantastic has everything you need for the perfect pamper night-in and we’re sharing our top 5 ways to spend Galentine’s Day this February 13th. So ditch the boys, bring your favourite beauty products and get ready to celebrate the best girls night-in you’ve ever had…

What is Galentine’s Day?

Made famous by Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope in the TV series Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is a chance to get your best girl-friends together and have a night that is all about the girls. We think it sounds pretty perfect! According to a survey conducted by Skinny Cow Ice Cream, 74% of women believe that there should be a holiday dedicated to celebrating friendships, while 1 in 3 state that their “first love” was in fact their best friend. Our friends go through everything with us, so a day to celebrate that is a brilliant idea, we think! Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to round everyone up and celebrate the love between friends.

71% of women surveyed said that their best friend understands them better than anyone else in the world, while 73% said that they feel much more relaxed and happier once they’ve had a good girly catch-up.

5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day

  1. Make cookies

A little sweet treat is essential for a girly get-together. We are total cookie fiends at Lookfantastic HQ and this healthier alternative recipe always goes down a storm!
You will need: 75g Coconut Oil, 1 beaten egg, 90g Caster Sugar, 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract, 100g Buckwheat Flour, 75g White and Dark Chocolate (mixed), 1/2 tsp Baking Powder, a pinch of salt.
To make them, just cream the coconut oil and sugar together, then add the egg and vanilla extract before mixing again ’till everything is incorporated. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into the mixture, and then mix again. Add the white and dark chocolate before rolling the dough into balls. Pop on a baking tray cook for 13 minutes at 160C (fan). Eat them warm or cold, straight away or later! Enjoy.

  2. Enjoy your favourite beauty products

Girls-night is all about pampering, so what better way to relax than with some beauty treats from Lookfantastic? We love the ELEMIS Luxury Skin and Body Kit which is perfect for doing facials at home and enjoying with your girl-friends. For richer moisturisation, opt for the Pro Collagen Marine Cream. As a bonus, there is a limited edition version supporting the International Charity Women for Women which helps women in war-torn countries to re-build their lives. What better way to celebrate Galentine’s Day than by helping to make a difference to women all over the world?

  3. Set the mood

Scented candles are one of our favourite little luxuries. Lighting a candle helps set a relaxing mood so you can chill out and forget the stresses of the week. We love the gorgeous candles from NEOM, Cowshed and RITUALS.

  4. Enjoy a film together

Chatting for hours is what Galentine’s Day is all about, but after all that talking, it can be nice to put on a film and laugh together! We love watching Rom-Com’s when it comes to girls-night, and nothing gets us laughing more than Bridesmaids! It reminds us that although we can fight and argue with friends, nothing will ever tear us apart…

  5. Try Something New

We love experimenting with new beauty products and the Lookfantastic Beauty Box is the perfect option. You can all try out the products together, practice different makeup looks on each other and then take photos and make an album. We love doing this at girls-nights in as it is so much fun! Plus, if you want some tips and hints for Make Up looks, we have a whole host of advice for you to read!

I am a big believer in the idea that beautiful Make Up begins with a superb skincare regime. I like to enhance my natural beauty rather than cover up and I am always on the lookout for great products which really work. When I am not writing about all things beauty, I like to do Yoga and I make an amazing brownie. It is all about balance!
