Britain’s Next Top Model Q&A

Britain’s Next Top Model Q&A

Britain’s Next Top Model is back! We caught up with Joshua Goldsworthy, the incredible Wella Professional Hair Stylist from Britain’s Next Top Model to pick his brain about his favourite products, looks and more.

Britain's Next Top Model

Question: What was your favourite look created on BNTM and Why?
Answer:

In the final, Matthew Curtis (Lead stylist on Britain’s Next Top Model) and I did a wedding themed shoot on the final 3 girls for Sandals Resorts. This was the final photo-shoot of the series so we really wanted to go out with a bang! We were given carte blanche to create anything we liked so we devised one look based on the Chanel catwalk style where hair was seen to be disconnected from the head and floating, but joined with a bracelet or hoop as link. I can’t tell you too much more so you’ll have to wait for the final episode!

Question: What are your top tips to create this look?
Answer:

To create this look it was all about the hair piece that was attached to the models looped ponytail. The other important factor was anchoring the piece correctly so that it wasn’t uncomfortable for the model when on set or didn’t droop and ruin the look. Tying a very tight ponytail, we then bent the hair with a pair of straightening irons and sewed the ponytail against the head; looping elastic through the hair and hiding the ends.

Question: What product can’t you live without on-set?
Answer:

Sugar Lift or Ocean Spritz. I love the effects you can achieve with these as they give you so many possibilities!

Question: What is your number one hair care tip?
Answer:

Treat your hair like you would treat your skin! Everyone knows to cleanse, tone & moisturize so why not cleanse, care & treat your hair? Make time to treat your hair to a deep nourishing mask or an in-salon treatment, which will bring huge benefits in the long run.

Question: Which hair products are always in your kit?
Answer:

Currently my go-to products are always Perfect Setting for adding guts and prepping hair, Dry Me for giving a lighter airier effect when styling on set, Ocean Spritz & Sugar Lift for adding texture and definition and Glam Mist to add shine in front of the camera!

Question: What do you love most about being a stylist?
Answer:

Being able to create something new every day! There is always a piece of my own expression or identity imprinted onto a client or model; hopefully a timeless image that can inspire others or evoke a though

Question: What is your own hair trend for the coming season (Spring/Summer)?
Answer:

Minimal and natural! Hair is dried to reveal more of a natural texture using hands and products less polished and preened; more as if you’ve styled your hair without brushing it.

Question: Which celebrities do your clients mostly ask for?
Answer:

This changes frequently! My clients are social media savvy and always on the hunt for new styles as am I. My most recent favourite is Jennifer Lawrence’s new bob, we’ve nick named this style the Clavi-cut due to the fact it sits on the clavicle bone at the top of your chest. Definitely one to look out for in 2016.
