Celebrity Hairstyles from the Oscars

The celebs were out in force last night for arguably the most glamorous night of the year at the 2016 Oscars. As if it wasn’t enough that Leo finally received his Oscar (with Kate escorting him down the red carpet – so cute), it was clearly a night for dramatic and glamorous hairstyles. We have pulled together our favourite celebrity hairstyles from the Oscars for you, plus some tips on you can try out the trends.

Our Top 4 Celebrity Hairstyles from the Oscars

Two camps clearly began to emerge when it came to the ever popular up dos; the smooth and sculptural vs. the tousled and romantic. Those who preferred a more modern take opted for sleek lines and experimental details, whereas the more traditional stuck with messy braids and soft waves to frame the face. Whichever look you side with, there’s no denying that both trends yielded absolutely stunning results.

The Sleek and Modern Updo

We particularly loved Rooney Mara’s daring updo where she put her own spin on the sleek bun, and Rachel McAdams’ minimalist slicked back sides allowed her smoky eye makeup to do the talking.

Looking to tame fly aways and achieve a slicked back look at home? Then try the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Shusu Sleek Shampoo– it’s our go to for a sleek hairstyle!

The Romantic and Whimsical Updo

On the more romantic side, we adored Olivia Wilde’s whimsical braided hairstyle, and Jennifer Garner’s elegant updo was the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. Both of them were winners in the beauty stakes for us!

Volume and texture is key to this look, so we recommend the Label.M Texturising Volume Spray. It is perfect to give hair added grip.

The Blonde Lob

An honourable mention has to also go to The Blonde Lob (or ‘long bob’). This year it seemed like you weren’t anyone unless you sported some variation of blonde tresses artfully sculpted to just above or on your shoulder. In this game, Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie and Lady Gaga all appeared victorious.

We are particularly obsessed with Lady Gaga’s gorgeous curls though, and the ghd creative curling wand is just what you need for beautiful big waves.

The Messy Braid

The undoubted winner in the hair stakes though was clearly the radiant Chrissy Teigen. We don’t want to think about how long her intricate and stylistically messy braid took to create, but it was completely worth it! Channelling romantic elegance, her hair had heads turning and all of us googling ‘braid hacks’ in the vain hope to recreate the wonder at home.

If you feel brave why not give the Redken Braid Aid a go? It promises to make your hair extra grip for braiding and gives the braid more longevity and a salon style finish!
