Grey Hair and Make Up Tips

Grey Hair and Make Up Tips

Grey seems to be the colour everyone is talking about at the moment alongside the launch of Fifty Shades of Grey. So here at Lookfantastic HQ, we thought we’d show you how to make the most of this understated tone. Thought grey hair was just for your granny? Think again! Read on for our tips on how to rock grey hair and Make Up.

Grey Hair and Make Up ideas

  1. Wearable grey hair

The grey hair trend has been creeping further and further in to the limelight over the last few months. With celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Rihanna sporting a luscious grey dip dye recently; it is a more versatile shade than you first think. This neutral colour could compliment any outfit, but if you’re not brave enough to rock the full silver hair shade, try mixing up the tone with pink and blue hues.

  2. A cool contour

If you have a pale complexion and dream of the ‘Kim Kardashian contour’, you may find brown tones are a little too harsh against your skin tone. Try to create those sculpted cheekbones with a grey or cool taupe shade instead. Using these cooler more neutral tones will sit more naturally against your skin and create that natural cheekbone shadow effect you desire. Balance it out with a pop of blush in a coral shade on the apples of your cheeks and a touch of highlighter across the top of your cheek bones.

  3. Nail the Grey Trend

The simplest way to switch up your beauty style without going to extremes is by simply popping on a fresh coat of nail varnish! From the pale pleasures of Butter London’s Lady Muck nail varnish, to the deeper depths of Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather; there’s a shade for any occasion. Not feeling glamorous enough? Add a glitter top coat to really make the colour pop!

  4. Play With Textures

Grey is a versatile colour, coming in many tones and hues, its way more than just the dull tone we initially associate with rainy days! If you’re going for a grey eye shadow for example, think about the texture. Do you want a matte finish as a base for a touch of bright colour, or will you go for one with a decedent silver glitter running through to add some sparkle to your day? Grey toned make up is a versatile option, and even acts as a great base of contrast against bright red lips too!

So go ahead, play around with some shades of grey and release yourself from the constraints of your normal beauty routine!
