Red Carpet Ready Make Up

Red Carpet Ready Make Up

Last night, the Golden Globes saw a host of stars take to the Red Carpet to celebrate their achievements in film. Getting ready for the Golden Globes takes weeks of planning, dress-fittings and beautifying treatments to achieve the final, finished look. But, being glam doesn’t have to be just for Celebrities. We have put together the Lookfantastic guide to the ultimate beauty routine to get you Red Carpet ready, whatever the big event!

Pre Party Prep

Red Carpet preparation isn’t done in a day! For events like the Golden Globes, celebrities get ready with an army of trainers, personal chefs and style advisors months before. You don’t have to go that far but following these tips in the weeks before a big event will help you feel amazing in time for the big day.

Take a bath

Bathing in Epsom salts is one of the tricks of the beauty trade when it comes to preparing for an important event in Hollywood. Just bathing for 20 minutes in a bath filled with Epsom salts can help to eliminate fluid retention and bloating; so you feel and look incredible! If they’re good enough for Elle Macpherson…

We love Mio’s Liquid Yoga as it not only contains Epsom salts, but a whole host of ingredients to relieve aching muscles and help you relax. Make sure to follow up with a moisturiser to keep your skin looking gorgeous – we love the Korres Guava Body Butter!

Exercise, exercise, exercise!

Any celebrity will tell you that their incredible figure doesn’t just appear overnight, they have to train hard and invest time and dedication into exercising.

As most of us don’t have access to a personal trainer with personalised workouts, we love this 7 day home workout. Even if you only have a spare 20 minutes after work on a Monday evening, you will start to feel the benefits. Plus, exercise is also great for giving you glowing skin; perfect for those red carpet photos!

Keep your nails beautiful

The finishing touches are what really make a Red Carpet look. A great manicure always adds an extra touch of sophistication to any outfit. Gorgeous nails need a little preparation. We love Nails Inc. Nailkale Superfood Base Coat which protects your nails from staining, and helps keep them nourished and strong.

The day of the Party

After all that preparation, the day of is all about the best Make Up. This year we’re taking inspiration for the Red Carpet celebrities like Lily James, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Alicia Vikander and going for a bronzed, glamorous, but natural look. We are all about that glow!

Primer

A hydrating primer will boost radiance and smooth the skin. Plus, it helps your Make Up last longer so you don’t need to waste your evening worrying about touch ups. We love the This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up because it contains a blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Plant Oils and Caffeine to give you an instant burst of moisture and radiance.

For any special night, we have a secret weapon. The NIOD Photography Fluid is specially designed to make skin look flawless in photos and it is fast becoming a cult product in every beauty lover’s Make Up stash. Just apply before your foundation and wait for the magic. (Yes, we are encouraging you to take LOTS of selfies!)

Foundation

If you’re going to be having photos taken in the evening, you want to avoid the ‘ghost face’ under the flash. Look for a foundation without any SPF so that your natural glow shows through in photos. Benefit’s Play Stick is a great one to choose due to its multi-tasking abilities – it can conceal, cover and provide long-lasting coverage without shine. If you’re prone to Oily skin, don’t forget to set your foundation with a sweep of powder over the T-Zone.

Bronzer and Highlighter

These are the ultimate finishing touch to your complexion, giving you stunning cheekbones and a beautiful glow. We love the New CID Cosmetics I-Bronze in Rio as its unique blend is designed to give your skin a healthy glow without looking orange or overdone. For a dewy finish, add a touch of INIKA’s Mineral Illuminisor on the tops of your cheekbones and bridge of your nose.

Eyes

A special night asks for a special eyeshadow. For a natural, glamorous look, we love a gold eye shadow for a subtle and elegant touch. We adore the Lancôme’s Ombre Hypnôse Cream Shadow Stick in Or Inoubliable (which translates as Unforgettable Gold, what could be more perfect?). It is unbelievably easy to apply and gives you just enough sparkle! Finish with a flick of Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara for the perfect bold lashes that will last all night without smudging.

After the Big Night

Don’t forget to keep your skin in top condition for the next big night…

Cleanse

It might be a chore, but removing your Make Up when you’ve come home and kicked off your shoes will keep your skin in top condition. We love Dermalogica’s UltraCalming Cleanser as its creamy texture means that it doesn’t irritate skin but thoroughly cleanses to leave skin soft and healthy.

Get your Beauty Sleep

Let your skin and body recover from your big night and get your Beauty Sleep. If you’re still too hyped up when you get home, then just spritz your pillow with the Sleep Plus Spray and you’ll nod off in no time. Then you just need to wake up and start prepping for the next big event!

Skincare Specialist

I am a big believer in the idea that beautiful Make Up begins with a superb skincare regime. I like to enhance my natural beauty rather than cover up and I am always on the lookout for great products which really work. When I am not writing about all things beauty, I like to do Yoga and I make an amazing brownie. It is all about balance!
