HOW TO: Get the Perfect Date Night Make-Up
Date nights can be a nerve wracking time, especially when they are blind. So to guide you through the dos and dont’s of a date night look, I have compiled a little cheat sheet, with some of the products to use and the desired look for effortless chic on a date ensuring you feel unique to everybody else in the room.
First things first, you need a great base! Depending on your skin type; oily skin needs to go for oil-free foundations or mineral powder foundations like – Bare Minerals or Too Faced oil free foundation, alternatively you can use a mattifying foundation which will level out unique oily skin and reduce shine.
For Normal and Dry Skin try a unique new foundation to LF: Benefit’s Hello Flawless foundation that will give your skin a boost and revive tired looking skin.Or if you are only looking for a light feel base layer try Rodial’s new BB Venom Skint tint. To cover any blemishes or imperfections of the skin use a concealer one shade lighter than your foundation.
Once you have a great base you can apply the rest of the elements to create the perfect date night look.
Eyes: For a date look I would recommend using some lovely tonal colours with subtle unique smokey eye shading. As illustrated in this picture: for this you could use New CID palette with subtle browns and beige’s, ideal for blue and green eyes.
Alternatively you could use a grey scale of eye shadow colours for brown eyes and darker skintones like: Clarins Eye Quartet or New CID Cosmetics. To achieve a flawless smokey eye you will need to coat the eye lid all over, with the medium shade of eye shadow; next step is to highlight the corner of your eye with the lightest shade, focusing on the area next to the eye duct; and finally finish the look with the darkest colour you use. Neatly run along the outer corner of the eye, along the socket line and the lash line and blend together with a blending brush.
With your smokey eye and base finished, you now want to choose the right blusher or bronzer (make sure not to go overboard) for your unique skin colour. For a fresh faced English rose feel glow choose a pink or red powder blush like Bare Minerals Ready Blush or a cream blush from Daniel Sandler. If it is golden glamour you are after then try Benefit Hoola or Clarins Bronzing Duo. Subtle sweeps across the cheekbones and a light dusting along the nose and forehead will give you a great glow.
Mascara, and lots of it! To accent your carefully constructed smokey eyes, you need an eye popping mascara to bring the colour on your lids to life. The best mascaras are for black: Benefit they’re real and L’Oreal Lash architect, for brown: Aveda Mosscara in brown and Mavala Eye-Lite and creamy. Apply a few coats making sure not to overload your lashes.
Now the finishing touches; lips are key, in my opinion if you want to make a statement then go for a bold lip colour like this Hot red lipstick from Daniel Sandler or if you want to come across as the more the shy and retiring type, try Dainty Doll Nude Lipstick.
Either will make a lasting impression on your date, with your flawless make-up and clear complexion they are bound to want more. Letting them know how uniquely beautiful you really are.
