If you're brave enough to give them a try, black lipsticks by the likes of Urban Decay are big news this season.
The Independent's fashion pages have highlighted some of the coolest trends that were huge on the runways and which we will be able to try over the coming weeks - and in among the glittery eyeliner and crimped hair was dark-as-night lippy!
"This trend is a great party look, even though it is reserved for the more adventurous and daring of beauty fans," the newspaper admitted.
It recommended teaming dark lips with smoky eyes - forget what you heard about nude eyes going with made up lips! - and hair either scooped up in a bun or with random sections crimped.
For a great black lipstick, try Urban Decay's Iconic Lipstick in Oil Slick. It is infused with sparkly pigments and is a shinier colour than the matte blacks you may have dabbled in at high school.
