Not for blonds

So I have dark blond hair and decided I wanted to go darker. I thought it would be a good idea to put loads of this on dry hair and leave on for an hour. I ended up with the lightest parts of my hair going a dark teal green! It does say don't use on blond hair. It was my fault. I'm now using their clove conditioner which has made me darker. So I am happy now

Got to try it

I have never dyed my hair - 65 years young - was very dark brunette when younger - avoided dyes as only a small amount of greys until a few months ago, had been using Henara for brunette but they have recently changed the formula and didn't like it so have been searching for some other colour enhancing product - purchased the average black malva shampoo and then the conditioner. The shampoo is nice but no real colour enhancement - the conditioner does the business though makes my hair darker and definitely helps to conceal greys - nice cool dark shades no red at all . Do try this product it's expensive but I think it's worth every penny.

Superb product

I brought this product to complement the Aveda black malva shampoo I already have. I have not been disappointed, it not only makes my hair smell gorgeous and feel soft, it really enhances the highlights I have in my hair.

Nice conditioner

Leaves your hair soft and manageable but stains your hands so make sure to wash them immediately. Has not really made any difference to my hair colour though.

Works to reduce orange brassy tones on dark brown/black hair

4

I've got dark brown/ black hair that I got highlighted recently and my hairdresser convinced me that I had to bleach my hair and then tone it to an ash blonde. So she did as she told me and when we were done it was evening and getting dark and my hair looked pretty decent for the rest of the evening. The next day when the sun was out and I took a look my hair was orange, the orange that grey hair turns when you use henna. Luckily my highlights were not on the top of my head but on the sides, and I could cover it up with the top of my hair. I researched into violet shampoos that were supposed to neutralise the brassy tones, but those did not work like I wanted them to, the brassiness remained. Then I found that blue shampoos or darker were better on darker hair and found the black malva. I've used a few times now and this is what I thought. First off the conditioner needs to stay in for quite a while otherwise your hair will feel dry and frizzy. Made that mistake and worried that this wouldn't help my hair either, but the longer you leave it in the softer your hair gets. Next, the conditioner makes a complete mess of your hands and nails which takes a few washes to remove, and this is why I've given it 4 stars. I need this conditioner but my hands are not happy. And the result - my hair gets more dark ashy blonde and looks much much much better! I am so happy that there is some product that will fix this mess and leave my hair looking much better than I expected. My next highlighting session will be at Aveda, they definitely know what they're doing! PS: I also use a bit of argan oil or macadamia oil to soothe my hair after using this shampoo conditioner duo. I'm used to the Redken all soft range so my hair loves argan oil and black malva is not as nourishing as my redken (which I still use in between using this product).

Aveda Black Malva Colour Conditioner (250ml)

I use this as a daily conditioner after the black malva shampoo. I pop a shower cap on and leave in for around 5 minutes. Using this product has helped me go almost 12 weeks between colouring my blonde hair dark! Definitely recommend this product for reducing costly trips to the hairdressers!

Dark shiny hair

This Aveda Black Malva Colour Conditioner really works! I hope by using it long term, I won't have to dye my hair so often as I've got lots of grey hair to hide.
