Cleansing Oils have arrived on the market with a bang. They are considered some of the best products in the industry to remove dirt, makeup and debris from the skin without causing irritation.

What you may not know however, is that cleansing oils are also brilliant at removing excess oil from the skin too. If you have oily skin, you may have stayed away from them due to their slippy properties, but trust us when we say you need to introduce them into your routine. They will help to balance out oil production by attracting and removing excess oil from your skin, and leave you with a flawless complexion.

For those of you that have normal/combination/dry/sensitive skin, cleansing oils work just as well too. They effectively help to lift off any impurities that sit on your skin and leave you with a cleansed face.

Double Cleansing With Your Favourite Cleansing Oil

While Cleansing Oils will lift off any dirt and makeup sitting on top of your skin, we always think it's best to go in for a second cleanse with your favourite cleanser. This is where double cleansing comes in.

The idea behind double cleansing is that once you have removed the surface impurities and makeup, your cleanser can work much more effectively to really get deep into your pores and leave you with healthy skin, which can actually clean your skin without having to battle through makeup and dirt.

We have put together a simple guide to help you find the right cleansing products for your skin type.

Sensitive Skin

There are now many products on the market which care for sensitive skin and leave it feeling healthy, soft and hydrated. Try and go for natural formulations without chemicals, as these will leave your skin feeling comfortable rather than irritated.

First Cleanse: The Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil is a 100% natural formulation and contains Sweet Almond Oil to leave skin super soft and cleansed.

Second Cleanse: Pai's Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser has a creamy consistency that melts into the skin. You can either use the muslin cloth that comes with the cleanser, or for a deeper yet gentle clean, opt for the FOREO Luna for Ultra Sensitive Skin.

Oily Skin

Don't be afraid of cleansing oils if you have oily skin. The particles in the oil cleanser attract oil on the skin to lift it away from the face and leave your complexion healthy and more matte. Opt for products that specify that they are suitable for oily skin types, as these also contain ingredients that can inhibit further oil production.

First Cleanse: Dermalogica's Precleanse contains Vitamin E and Rice Bran to lift impurities off the skin to leave it feeling clean and healthy. It is also gentle enough to be used on the eye area!

Second Cleanse: The Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser is ideal for skin going through hormonal imbalances and suffering from excess oiliness, congestion and breakouts. If you feel like your skin is extremely oily, then the Clarisonic MIA 2 works to cleanse away impurities and dirt while balancing your skin.

Dry Skin

If your skin is dehydrated or dry, then it means that it needs super hydrating ingredients to moisturise, nourish and leave it feeling comfortable. Opt for products that are formulated with conditioning plant and fruit oils to add some hydration into the skin without causing irritation.

First Cleanse: Murad's Renewing Cleansing Oil contains Jojoba and Liquorice to balance out skin tone and improve the condition of dry skin that has cracked or become irritated.

Second Cleanse: Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cleanser contains Oatmeal to nourish the skin and rehydrate damaged areas. As dry skin can also be exacerbated by a build-up of dead skin cells and product, try the Konjac Facial Puff with Red French Clay, which helps to rejuvenate the skin and leave your complexion feeling fresh.

Normal Skin

If your skin doesn't easily become irritated, dry or breakout that often, then there are lots of cleansing oils you can choose from that will effectively remove makeup without disturbing its balance. Opt for products that are lightweight and non-greasy so they won't cause congestion, and your complexion remains healthy. Often, normal skin can lack radiance and vitality, so uplifting essential oils will help to combat that.

First Cleanse: The Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil is formulated with Orange, Lemon and Grapefruit to effectively remove all dirt from the skin, whilst helping to boost your glow and transform skin from dull to radiant.

Second Cleanse: Burt's Bees Radiance Cleanser helps to leave your complexion fresh and healthy, whilst also offering a gentle clean. If you really want to give your skin an overhaul and huge radiance boost, then the Magnitone London Barefaced Brush will leave your skin so clean it glows!
