How to remove Glitter Nail Polish

It didn’t take much persuading for me to dive in to the glitter nail trend. As far back as I can remember I have had an unhealthy propensity for sparkly things. So naturally during the recent festive frivolities I took advantage of a fashion moment that no longer classed glitter with a slightly amused raised brow. I spent a month wearing every colour under the glittering rainbow, laughing in the face of ‘less is more‘ mantras and walking loud and proud engulfed in a glittery abyss… But what I didn’t take into consideration was the nightmare of how to remove glitter nail polish.

Since I am a kind and lovely person, I don’t want anyone else to go through the long torture of removing glitter nail polish without knowing the sneaky shortcuts! So, here is my tutorial on how to remove Glitter Nail Polish.

How to remove Glitter Nail Polish in 3 Steps

All you need is 10 minutes of your time, Nail Polish Remover, Cotton Pads and Aluminium Foil!

The best thing about this process is you won’t need to use Acetone nail polish removers, which are known to be very harsh on your skin. So the first thing you need to do is choose your favourite nail polish remover and soak some cotton pads in it. I love the OPI Original Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover

Wrap the cotton pads around the tip of one of your nails so that the varnish is so longer visible. Place a strip of Foil over the cotton pad and your fingertip and seal at the top as tight as you can. The idea is to restrict the air to the nail so that the remover has time to really sink into the glitter.

Once you have wrapped and foiled all fingers leave your them to soak up the Nail Polish Remover for 5-10 minutes. During this time do not attempt to type, make tea, or re-do your meticulously formed side pony tail. It will not work. Just sit patiently and when the time is up, just slide the foil off whilst firmly pressing the pad down onto the nail and viola, the varnish will slide away faster than you did that time when you thought wearing heels in the snow would be OK if ‘you were careful’…
