Great for blemishes!

5

I have blemish-prone skin that's susceptible to flare-ups and I've been using these two products as part of my everyday routine for a few years now. Hands down they are the only products that really help to clear up my skin! They aren't overly fragranced which I much prefer as my skin is left feeling natural and fresh!

La Roche Posay Effacular Kit

4

I’ve bought this set for both my daughters at the age of 12. Both were experiencing the start of pimples and both saw their skin clear up within a couple of weeks of using. Such a relief for them both. My younger daughter has experienced some dry skin around her eyes since she has started using it but a little bit of moisturiser and using a little less of the cleanser seems to be helping and it is clearing up. I highly recommend this set for pre teens and early teens.

Disappointed

1

Reading the reviews on this site, I thought this was going to work wonders for my skin and was so excited to use it.  On just the second use, my face was burning and what felt like a chemical burn, my face was bright red and painful - I have never experienced this before! It is now the next day and my skin is extremely dry considering I usually have very oily skin, it is still red, painful, tight and some skin is flaking. I believe this has stripped my skin completely and looking at the ingredients - lots of alcohols and harmful chemicals! Not sure how this is dermatoligically approved or for sensitive skin types! I do not have sensitive skin so fear for those who do and use these products just from reading the description. To make it worse la Roche posay told me to continue use so the skin gets used to it .. I don’t think that is very safe or professional advice and definitely won’t be using it. One star for the pure fact it does what it says in reducing oil - although does this unsafely!

Amazing for my skin!

5

I've been suffering from hormonal acne recently, huge painful spots under the skin and within two days of using this face wash and cream, my face had improved amazingly. Less pain, less redness and reduced the size of any spots I had! Absolutely incredible stuff!

alright

The cleanser is nothing to write home about, It does the job but doesn't leave the skin feeling nice. The cream is quite good, it smells and feels nice but i wouldn't use it as a moisturiser alone. I didn't notice any drastic improvement in my skin but it is generally quite clear at the moment.

Cream is amazing, wash is not

3

I bought this set because I was breaking out and I needed a new moisturiser and cleanser. For the first couple of days I thought the gel cleanser was great however after consistent use for a week my skin extremely dried out. For someone with oily skin I didn’t think it was possible to strip my face like that, I also broke out. However, I love the moisturiser and I will definitely keep using it. Just a shame the cleanser is so drying.

Worth a try - it cleared my hormonal acne

4

These products have really helped my skin - they are worth a try for hormonal acne if you don't overuse them and are prepared for an intense breakout at the start! I have suffered from painful hormonal cystic acne around my chin and mouth for two years after coming off the contraceptive pill. In February 2020 I tried this system as a last resort. In the first week it felt like it was working. In the second and third weeks of using this system, I had awful skin as if it had brought out every spot that had been waiting to emerge. It was painful and difficult. Then at about week four or five (mid-March 2020) it started to heal and improve. I did still occasionally get the odd painful spot, so I changed to a less harsh system: I now only use the Effaclar moisturiser at night and in the day I use a more gentle moisturiser. It's May 2020 now [three months of use] and I haven't had a painful cystic spot for a month. That's amazing for me, I was convinced my skin was just broken. I still have some acne scarring and I do sometimes get small little spots at certain points in my cycle, but the fact my face is no longer in pain from cystic acne is a miracle. The rest of my skin in non-acne areas has also improved - it's softer and more even in tone. I don't use much else on my face - I use the La Roche Posay serozinc spray toner, a separate eye cream at night, a very mild sunscreen on sunny days, I don't wear any skin make-up anymore as it was triggering breakouts. I sometimes use blotting paper too in the daytime if my face gets shiny. I would recommend this product to somebody with painful cystic hormonal acne, if you're prepared to go through a bad breakout at the beginning. This set says it will take four weeks but I would advise giving it six weeks and maybe varying how often you use the moisturiser as it's quite intense. For me this set has made the world of difference.

Sensitive or Combination or Skin prone to persistent breakouts rather than acne?

4

If you have sensitive or combination skin that is prone to persistent breakouts rather than acne, here's what I wish I'd known prior to using. - Dont use it all over your face, instead use it as a targeted treatment - it says use over your whole face morning and evening but I found that this was incredibly drying, so much so that I woke up to sore, scaly skin after 3 days use and had to use thick creams to help it recover. - Don't use it anywhere near your eyes - the skin under your eyes is thinner and I found that the cream made it go papery and dry. - I'd advise only using the face wash once every couple of days to begin with and see what effect it has. If it's not too drying you can always up it. Turns out that whilst sebum over production causes the issue, that it's actually an essential part of keeping your skin healthy too and this stuff completely strips your skin of it if you use it too frequently - this might not be the case if you have proper acne but if you're using this on breakouts just be careful. All in all though, I found that using the cleanser once or twice a week is enough and that the cream worked best applied directly onto just the affected area. It has also reduced the appearance of blackheads on my nose and whiteheads on my chin. I would highly recommend this product to anyone struggling with their skin but just use it carefully as it is VERY powerful stuff.

I suffer with sensitive oily spot prone skin an this has made it completely worse!
