milkbottles, marshmallows, cabbage patch kids!

I bought this perfume on the description alone (brave? daft!) because of the Heart/Base note description of ambroxan, vanilla, benzoin and tonka bean - these are all notes I love and look for in perfumes (Laura Mercier - Vanille and Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka <3). I have another Molton Brown perfume which I LOVE so was reasonably confident this would be nice, I wasn't really sure what Elemi smelt like. Now I suspect it is the Elemi that I am not so keen on! At first this smells rather baby powdery and it really reminded me of the way cabbage patch dolls smelt in my childhood - that might be a strange comparison but what can I say! I wasn't terribly keen to begin with but as it mellowed/warmed on my skin and the deeper notes evolved it became much more classically vanilla - it is mallowy and a bit like the milk bottles sweets/chews which is actually a really comforting smell. It doesn't have quite as much staying power as I would have liked or as the other MB/LM/JM fragrances that I wear. Will probably layer it with other perfumes!
