My Makeup Favourites

As my bio might suggest, I am a total makeup magpie; I have far more lipsticks than any one girl should and can never resist a great highlighter! After trying out most of the Lookfantastic makeup section for myself, I thought I’d share the makeup products that I can’t live without.

My Makeup Must-Haves

As a heavyweight foundation, I love the Vichy Dermablend. It really covers everything and lasts really well. I also like that the finish isn't too greasy or too matte- for a high coverage foundation it gives a very natural result.

Since trying this out, I cannot live without it. So simple to swipe under the cheekbones and jawline, it gives the most natural result of any contour I have ever tried. It looks scary in the tube but the sheer gel blends out to look like a totally natural shadow. It is makeup magic!

For a lightweight, everyday base, I love the Healthy Mix Serum. I have been using it for about a year and always repurchase. I like that a lot of their shades have a yellow base, which works well for my skin tone. It evens everything out and blends beautifully.

Brows. How did we ever do our makeup before? If there is one makeup product I hate to leave the house without, it is a brow gel. I prefer a fairly full, natural brow to a sharp, defined brow and this fills in all the gaps and tames any strays so quickly and simply.

I am a fan of eyeliner and tend to wear it every day. I love a winged liner! This is a brilliant affordable option. I like the felt tip for easy application and it comes out as a rich, deep black. No watery greys here.

I tend to stick with simple eye makeup but I can't resist a good neutral eyeshadow palette. This one from theBalm is a great option. The shadows are buttery soft and don't fall out all over the face. I usually use at least one of these shades every day for a touch of definition.

I have naturally very curly eyelashes so I am all about volume and length instead of curl when I look for mascara. This always leaves my lashes looking naturally full and dark, without flaking or transferring.

Highlighters are my beauty weakness and I have far too many in my makeup drawers. I love that dewy glow they give and this cream formula from Illamasqua is so incredible. It has such a natural sheen and works so well for strobing.

I always tend to try out budget lipsticks rather than high end- I like playing around with colours and don't like investing until I know I love a shade. The formula of these is fab- halfway between a sheen and a matte, it sticks around, isn't drying and there are a ton to choose from.

I am a total convert to applying my base with a complexion sponge. It just gives such high coverage without looking cakey. I always have at least one of these as a backup in my makeup drawers as I hate using anything else now!

Another highlighter, but I can't resist. This is one of those creams that is so ideal for summer. It melts onto the skin and leaves a soft rose gold glow. I really like it when I have a bit of a tan, for bringing out the warmth in my skin without looking orange or muddy.

Setting powder is essential for my naturally oily skin. I tend to prefer loose powders to compacts, as I feel it gives a softer finish. This one is so luxurious, scented like rose and leaves skin looking velvety without dulling any radiance from highlighters and creams.

Another Bourjois base product, but it is an essential. Good coverage, ultra-blendable and lightweight, I find it works well both under the eyes and on any blemishes, without caking or creasing.
