Must-See Exhibitions for Fashion and Beauty Fanatics

As real devotees of beauty and fashion, we always love learning more about about them. Plus, strolling around an art gallery and finishing with a cup of tea and slice of cake might just be one of our favourite ways to spend a weekend afternoon!

If you’re looking for somewhere to go this weekend, this might just help you find something special. From the history of styles and products to inspiration from iconic names, we’re sharing the must-see exhibitions around the UK this Summer.

5 Galleries to Visit This Weekend

  1. Vogue 100: A Century of Style

Showing at Manchester Art Gallery from the 24th June to 30th October.

Vogue was first founded in 1916 and has been the leader of the fashion pack ever since. This is an incredible collection of images from over the century, from renowned photographers like David Bailey, Corinne Day and Cecil Beaton just to name a few.

The whole exhibition is a veritable who’s who of the fashion world, with models, celebrities, designers and photographers who have become iconic. A total must-see for any fashion fanatic!

  2. English Rose – Feminine Beauty from Van Dyck to Sargent

Showing at The Bowes Museum in County Durham from the 14th May to 25th September.

The idea of beauty has changed so much over the centuries and this exhibition explores the idea of the ‘English Rose’.

You can walk through 400 years of society beauties. With commentary on what was considered beautiful at different times and insight into the women who were painted, it is an amazing consideration of femininity, celebrity and beauty.

  3. Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear

Showing at the V&A Museum in London until the 12th of March 2017.

This is an in-depth exhibition talking about how underwear has evolved since the 18th Century, with over 200 examples.

As well as being full of beautiful clothes, it talks about how all of the changes of fit, shape, fabric and styles can impact on ideas about gender, sexuality and morality. One for the eyes and the mind!

  4. Missoni Art Colour

Showing at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London from the 6th of May to 4th September.

The Missoni family might just be one of the most glamorous and creative families of this century. Since 1953 they have become renowned for their incredible prints and fabrics.

This exhibition draws you into the Missoni world, looking at how their textiles have drawn from modern art over the last 60 years. With unseen works and collections, this is a magical insight into one of the most iconic fashion brands of the century.

  5. The Art Garden

At the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester from now on.

Not strictly an exhibition but definitely worth a trip. You know we love our ingredients here at Lookfantastic and now there is the chance to surround yourself with them. Together with Jo Malone, the Whitworth Art Gallery has created a garden bursting with incredible florals.

Roses, Bluebells, Geranium and Sage are just some of the different plants building a wonderland of texture, colour and fragrances that any beauty lover will adore.

Make Up Specialist

Major fan of scented candles, Make Up brushes and Highlighter. I’m always on the hunt for those Holy Grail products and my dressing table is covered in more beauty products than I like to admit. As an adopted Northerner originally from Brighton, I spend most my days wondering what all this rain is about. My hair isn’t grateful for the move. Currently loving: NIOD Photography Fluid
