How to apply makeup without covering your freckles

In the era of skinimalism, a shift in beauty trends means that makeup is now used less as a mask, and more as a way of complimenting our natural beauty. From freckles and beauty marks, to natural blush and radiance, using makeup is a great way to develop what you already have.

For those who want to show off their natural freckles, navigating your base makeup can be somewhat difficult. But there are many ways you can create a gorgeously glowy base, without concealing them. Get the look

Step one

A great primer is the key to a gorgeous glowy base. Start off by applying the Nu Glow In Balm to the complexion with a flat brush.

Step two

Those with natural freckles want to avoid using heavy or thick foundations. Instead, opt for a sheer skin tint such as the Nu Bare Look Skin Tint, and sweep over the face gently with a flat brush.

Step three

Concealer should only be applied in the necessary areas. Using YSL's iconic Touche Eclat, apply to the undereye area using your fingers to gently pat in the formula. For a brightening effect, add a touch to the high points of your face including the bridge of the nose, brow bone, and cheek bones.

Step four

A creamy blush will help to accentuate your skin's natural flush. Take the Cheek and Lip Balmy Tint and apply to the apples of the cheeks with a fluffy brush. Add to the bridge of the nose for an extra bit of rouge.

Using a small flat brush, apply three dots of the balm to the lips and blend in with your fingers.

Step five

Give lids a wash of shimmer with the Satin Crush Eyeshadow. Apply using your fingers and blend outwards.

Finish off eyes with a coat of Lash Clash Mascara, coating lashes evenly for a lengthening look.

Step six

If you want to give your pout some extra va-va-voom, take the Slim Glow Matt lipstick and apply over lips using a brush.

Step seven

Set your look in place and give it a radiance boost with an even spritz of the Dewy Mist.
