Pregnancy can be one of the happiest and most challenging times of your life as you go through emotional and hormonal changes. Rest assured though that lookfantastic has everything you need to help you relax during your pregnancy, stay comfortable and keep your skin healthy and nourished.

Mama Mio Sleep Easy Kit

Sleep is always super important but never more so than when you’re pregnant, as the body needs as much time for rest and recovery as possible. When you’re expecting however, hormonal changes, heartburn and a growing bump can make getting this much needed rest feel almost impossible, with around 78% of pregnant women having reported suffering from insomnia.

The Mama Mio Sleep Easy Kit contains three sleep-inducing products- a Sleep Easy Bath and Shower Oil, Sleep Easy Tummy Butter and a Sleep Easy Pillow Spray. Enriched with lavender and mint, this kit calms and soothes both body and mind easing you into a peaceful bliss.

Cool It Mama Face & Body Spritz

Hot flushes, tiredness and nausea can all prevent us feeling and looking our best. The Cool It Mama Face & Spritz by Natural Birthing Company combines a mix of pure essentials oils of Orange Blossom, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot and Grapefruit with a touch of Menthol to instantly cool and refresh your face and body.

The mist is perfectly safe to use throughout your entire pregnancy and can even be used during labour.

ESPA Regenerating Face Treatment Oil

Fluctuating hormones are known to increase the sensitivity of the skin causing you to experience changes you’ve previously never encountered. The Regenerating Face Treatment Oil by ESPA is suitable for stressed skin and perfectly safe to use throughout your pregnancy. Enriched with Frankincense and Jasmine to revitalise, Avocado, Evening Primrose and Wheatgerm Oils to strengthen skin’s natural barrier and Calendula to soothe away any stress, it is the perfect go to oil during your pregnancy.

Bloom and Blossom Indulgence Bath Oil

Having a bath can relax your body and mind and keep you feeling balanced. The Indulgence Bath Oil from Bloom and Blossom has been formulated with essential oils safe to use during your pregnancy. Containing Apricot Kernel Oil and Ylang Ylang, which help to keep stretchmarks at bay, the oil is also free from parabens, SLS and petrochemicals to keep your skin and bump protected.

Pai Pomegranate and Pumpkin Seed Organic Stretch Mark System

Stretch marks are a very common side effect to pregnancy and are caused by collagen in the skin stretching beyond its elasticity limit.  They usually occur in the later stages of pregnancy as the stomach begins to rapidly expand for your growing baby. The two step hydrating formula by Pai is designed to prevent unwanted stretch marks and consists of a hydrating cream and a conditioning oil. Both products are enriched with natural ingredients such as Avocado Oil, Shea butter and Vitamin E to improve both the appearance of stretch marks and reduce skin tearing.

3 Top Tips from Hira, our Pharmacist

Follow these top tips from our own in-house Pharmacist Hira to ensure that your skin, body and well-being are all taken care of during your pregnancy.

  • Gentle exercise is great for keeping fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy.  It not only helps to maintain your weight but also helps you to relax, get in a routine and sleep better.  Aim for at least 20-30 minutes daily and choose anything from walking and swimming to pilates, as they are all great activities.
  • Take care of what you are eating. Choose foods high in vitamins, folate and minerals, such as fruit, vegetables and lentils.  Another great food to include in your diet is lean protein, especially fish, which is high in omega 3 and known to help brain development.
  • Listen to your body.  This is the most important part of pregnancy as you will be aware of your body and the changes it is going through more than anyone else.  Change your routine to make life easier for yourself and the baby. If anything doesn’t feel normal or is unexpected, then contact your doctor straight away.

I am a big believer in the idea that beautiful Make Up begins with a superb skincare regime. I like to enhance my natural beauty rather than cover up and I am always on the lookout for great products which really work. When I am not writing about all things beauty, I like to do Yoga and I make an amazing brownie. It is all about balance!
