Step 1: Cleanse

Aruj says: “Cleansing can help to remove a build-up of irritants, potential allergens and impurities. You should start your summer routine with clean skin, using soothing ingredients which help to calm and protect your skin barrier ready for sun exposure."

Step 2: Exfoliate

Aruj Says: “Exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells, leaving rough dry patches behind and allowing you to tan more evenly. A build-up of dead skin cells can cause skin to look dull. With sun exposure, this can cause skin to become drier. Therefore, gently buffing away dead skin cells helps prevent this.”

Step 3: Hydrate

Aruj Says: “Hydrating your skin before sun exposure can help to maintain and strengthen your skin barrier. A tinted moisturiser can help you achieve a subtle radiant glow whilst you achieve your natural base tan, keeping your skin hydrated. Moisturisers can also nourish your skin after sun exposure.”

Step 4: Soothe

Aruj Says: “In summer, we tend to become more active and sweat more. Chafing occurs when there is skin on skin contact that rubs together and can cause friction. Applying an anti-chafing cream can create a physical barrier on your skin to help protect it from rubbing.”

Step 5: Protect

Aruj Says: “SPF is applied to protect your skin as the final step of your routine. Remember to apply SPF at least 15 to 30 minutes before sun exposure. The minimum SPF factor we should be using is SPF 30, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, and you should re-apply SPF liberally every two hours.”
