WHY BLUE LIGHT THERAPY WILL TRANSFORM YOUR SKIN
Considering trying out blue light therapy but don’t know where to start? Dr Dennis Gross, nationally-recognised dermatologist and co-founder of Dr Dennis Gross Skincare, is here to shine a light on the treatment and how it can transform your complexion.
What is blue light therapy?
Blue light therapy is a specific wavelength of LED that is primarily used to treat and prevent acne.
How does blue light therapy work?
Acne bacteria actually have receptors for blue LED. When blue LED connects with the acne-causing bacteria’s receptors, it causes the bacteria to self-implode. Blue light does not affect or kill healthy skin bacteria and never over-dries the skin.
What are the benefits of blue light therapy for the skin?
Blue light has anti-bacterial properties that have the ability to kill acne causing bacteria – it prevents and treats mild to moderate acne and helps purify the skin as well as stabilise oil production. The result is a clear complexion.
How do you use your blue light therapy device?
To optimize LED light therapy treatment, I recommend using my DRx SpectraLite FaceWare device daily for 3 minutes after cleansing on clean, dry skin. The device sits flush to the face so you are getting maximum penetration of the LED lights.
Does blue light therapy hurt?
No, there is no pain or downtime with LED blue light therapy.
What type of skin would benefit most from using blue light therapy?
Acne, oily or combination skin.
Is there anyone who should avoid using blue light therapy?
Blue LED is safe for all skin types. If you have a medical skin condition, consult your dermatologist before beginning blue light therapy.
Are there any risks associated with using blue light on the skin?
No, it is completely safe.
How long does it take to see results from blue light therapy?
With my at-home FaceWare, you can see improvements in acne in 1-3 treatments! Continuing usage daily helps to prevent breakouts before they happen.
