When it comes to creating that perfect bouncy blow-dry, where do you begin?

We see celebrities, models and influencers all over Instagram and in the press with that perfect big bouncy do, but creating that at home has often been a laborious (and rather disappointing) task.

We have put together our top tips which will help you to create the perfect bouncy blow-dry at home, so you can be sure your hair looks absolutely incredible.

How do I create a Bouncy Blow-Dry at Home?

  1. Use a Heat Protectant
  2. Use a Lightweight Oil
  3. Increase Volume by using a Thickening Spray
  4. Boost Volume at the Crown
  5. Use the Correct Hair Styling Tools

Use a Heat Protectant

This isn't going to give you amazingly voluminous locks, but it will protect them against heat damage, which will keep them healthy.

If you use heat styling tools on hair without a protectant spray, over time it will become lank, damaged, dull and frizzy, all of which are not on the list when it comes to describing a beautiful head of hair.

We love Bumble and Bumble's Invisible Oil Heat Primer, which feels incredibly lightweight and not greasy at all, making it perfect for all hair types including fine. It also contains UV filters to shield against environmental aggressors and pollution, keeping your locks in perfect everyday condition.

Use a Lightweight Lotion

Blow-dry lotions are another great way to add nourishment and smooth down frizzy fibres, ready for the perfect finish.

Choose one that is super lightweight and won't weigh your hair down with heavy ingredients. We love the Kérastase Styling L'Incroyable Blow Dry, which has unique SRS® technology to help form bonds between the hair fibres and create texture and moveable shape.

The result is hair that looks and feels perfected, yet slightly tousled for that gorgeous blow-dry look and finish.

Increase Volume by using a Thickening Spray

Anyone with super fine hair will need to use an additional thickening treatment, which will add the essential body and volume hair is lacking.

Aveda's Thickening Tonic is a cult beauty favourite of ours, helping to boost the volume of fine fibres all the way from the root to the tip. Plus, it contains a predominantly natural ingredient base, making it a great choice for anyone who has a sensitised hair or scalp.

Boost Volume at the Crown

Working from the root downwards is the easiest way to ensure your hair gets volume and body during the styling process.

Use a round brush, such as the Paul Mitchell Large Titanium Thermal Brush to work the hair at the root. Wrap the hair around the brush and blow-dry the hair towards the scalp to add air and body. Keep doing this around the crown until the roots and tips are fully dry.

Use the Correct Hair Styling Tools

Using the right products on your locks will ensure you get perfect results, so it's worth investing here.

T3's Featherweight 2 Hair Dryer creates a perfect bouncy blow-dry in a shorter amount of time thanks to its unique Tourmaline Technology, which whips water away from the hair quickly so drying time, and subsequently the potential of heat damage, is reduced.

After drying your hair, if you want to create a little texture and tousled waves to add body and volume, try the ghd Gold Max Styler. Its wide plates mean you can create loose curls that look super relaxed and effortless.
