With salons opening and our chance to transform our limp, lifeless tresses finally coming to light, now is the perfect opportunity to up your hair game. If you’re planning on jumping on the bangs trend or did a DIY job in lockdown, it can often be a challenge giving them a salon-quality finish at home. To help you out we’ve pulled together the simple steps you need to take so you can style your fringe like a pro.

How to style your fringe like a pro

Step 1: Prep your hair

The key to every good hair look is preparation and that’s no different when it comes to your fringe. If you want it to look super shiny and full of volume, we know a few products that will do the trick. The Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray helps to tame frizz and seals hair fibres in a waterproof veil so your style lasts all day long. Simply spray onto damp hair for up to 72 hours of protection! If your hair is on the dryer side or you have split ends, we recommend spritzing the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate & Repair Multi-Action Leave-In Conditioner onto the ends of your fringe to keep it looking silky smooth and glossy all day long.

Step 2: Get your brush at the ready

When it comes to brushes, the bigger the better. To create the perfect fresh-off-the-runway fringe we recommend using a big round barrel brush. If you have thick or long bangs the Moroccanoil Ceramic Round Brush will be your new best friend. The trusty tool has several properties that allow even heat distribution and enhance trying time, making it perfect if you’re up against the clock. If you have thin hair or a shorter fringe we recommend reaching for the Kent PF12 Medium Ceramic Round Hair Brush. Sourced from the finest bristle merchants in Asia, the brush is delicate on your strands whilst giving you the volume and body you deserve.

Step 3: Blow Dry

The next step is where the magic happens. Now you’ve chosen your trusty tool of choice it’s time to blow dry your bangs to perfection. Take the T3 Cura Hair Dryer and place your brush underneath your fringe. Starting at your roots, take the brush and pull your hair downwards, drying as you go. Repeat this several times then switch it and place the brush ontop of your hair and repeat the same steps. This will give your tresses the ultimate volume boost and will ensure your fringe falls neatly into place.

Top tip: If you want your volume and body to last all day long we recommend putting your freshly dried fringe into a roller for 1-2 hours for an extra boost!

Step 4: Style and finish

Now that you have a salon-worthy fringe, the final step is to style it and set it in place. Take the Color Wow Raise the Roots Spray and spritz it underneath your hair for added thickness and volume. If you want to lock in your look reach for the iconic ghd Perfect Ending Final Fix Spray, to give you a firm but flexible hold. If you want to achieve a more tousled styled fringe, the Redken Wind Blown Dry Finishing Spray will get you looking beach babe ready in an instant.
