Enter: the identity era.
Framed by discovery, this new outlook allows the wearer to customise their scent trail. Know this: our aroma is no longer just about a smell; it’s about character.
Where are people choosing their scents?
Their fragrance wardrobes.
What is a Fragrance Wardrobe?
A fragrance wardrobe is a curated collection of scents chosen to suit different moods, moments, seasons and occasions. Just as you switch up your outfit, your fragrance can become another way to express your personal style.
From fresh, uplifting notes for daytime to richer, more captivating scents for evenings, building a fragrance wardrobe means having the perfect perfume to reach for – whatever the moment.
Buying Manager Francesca Whitehead told us,
“Fragrance Wardrobes are becoming the norm as customers move away from having one signature scent. Rather than buying one perfume, customers are purchasing multiple scents for different moods, occasions, and even seasons. As part of this, layering fragrances will continue to grow as customers look for their unique scent: whether layering a fragrance juice over body creams, or mixing to create unique scents."
Among the names leading the conversation, Kylie Cosmetics Mood Stone Collection in Blushwood reflects the growing preference for mood-led fragrance. This is a collection built for choosing – or changing – personality, with soft rose accords leaving a fresh, wearable finish to suit every outfit, every day or every season – in style.
And this segment is scaling rapidly.
Remaining one of the strongest performing beauty categories, fragrance has outperformed the wider UK market, with “fragrance sets increasing by +13% in the first 6 months of 2026, versus the same period last year.” Overall, search behaviour points towards purchasing decisions being fuelled by scent exploration, with:
Sales: +6.7% YoY Revenue: +10% YoY Returning customer sales: +25.9%
How to Create Your Fragrance Wardrobe
Building your fragrance wardrobe is all about finding scents that complement the different sides of your personality and lifestyle. Start with the fragrances you naturally gravitate towards, then introduce contrasting scent families to give your collection more versatility.
Consider the moments you’re dressing for: a fresh citrus or floral fragrance can feel effortless for daytime, while warm amber, woody or gourmand notes can bring something richer to evenings and special occasions. You can also switch your scent with the seasons, reaching for lighter notes in warmer months and deeper, cosier blends when temperatures drop.
Above all, choose fragrances that make you feel good. Whether you curate a scent for every occasion or simply rotate between a few favourites, your fragrance wardrobe should feel uniquely yours.

How to Layer Fragrance
We caught up with the experts to find out how scent layering arose, which are the top scents to use and the best way to apply your fragrances when layering.
What are Some Popular Fragrance Wardrobe Notes?
With the most in-demand note currently classic vanilla, “As we move into the autumn and winter months, expect to see more sophisticated gourmands with notes from caramel, vanilla, patchouli, chocolate, fig and even whiskey,” says Buying Manager, Francesca Whitehead.
But heady, sweet cherry is the one to watch this season.
With a strong 13% conversion rate, its appeal is obvious. Indulgent yet soft enough for the everyday, site searches have risen +16% YoY, now set as the fastest-growing fragrance profile alongside continued strength in amber, lavender and floral cues.
The rising star? Pistachio.
Well-positioned for further uplift at +29.8% QoQ with a 12.5% conversion rate, pistachio is set be a major olfactory trend this season.
“Affordable, luxury “Eau de Parfum remains the number 1 fragrance format,” explains Francesca. “It had +6% growth in the first 6 months of 2026, versus same period last year. However, Hair Perfume as a product type is seeing very strong growth as customers expand their Fragrance collection outside of a traditional Eau de Parfum, with Hair Perfumes growing +71% vs last year.”
Among the names leading the luxury conversation include Jean Paul Gaultier's La Favourite, blending warm amber with earthy tonka bean.
Final Thoughts
- A fragrance wardrobe gives you the freedom to choose your scent based on your mood, occasion, season or personal style.
- Start with a few fragrances you genuinely love, rather than building an extensive collection overnight.
- Consider creating a mix of fresh, floral, woody, gourmand and richer scents to give your collection plenty of versatility.
- Think beyond the seasons – your everyday signature, date-night favourite or confidence-boosting scent can all earn a place in your wardrobe.
- Experiment with fragrance layering to create combinations that feel even more personal to you.
- Most importantly, there are no rules. A fragrance wardrobe is all about discovering scents you love and making fragrance another form of self-expression.
