If you're anything like us, you'll have multiple cleansers, exfoliators, moisturisers and serums stashed away in your bathroom cupboard ready to make their appearance at a moment's notice. While you also might have a selection of masks to choose from, the reality is that most of us will never use them together. However, multi-masking is the easiest and most effective way to truly make a difference to the whole of your complexion, based on your skin's individual needs.

The idea behind multi-masking is that it treats different skin concerns on your face. While you might love your usual hydrating mask, chances are that your whole complexion doesn't need a burst of hydration. By using different masks, you will notice skin concerns become less and less as you use targeted treatments for different problems.

One of our favourite brands to multi-mask with is Eve Lom, as their face masks all designed with different needs in mind.

Multi-masking: A how to guide

Have a look at your face. Does the skin on your nose and t-zone look oilier than the rest? Do your cheeks look porous? Does your forehead look dry? Have a think about what it is that your skin needs, and then choose your mask accordingly.

1. Look at your T-Zone

As the t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) can be slightly oilier than the rest of the face, it tends to be the place where blemishes appear. Try applying a thin layer of the Eve Lom Rescue Mask on areas of particular concern like these. The mask contains kaolin clay to absorb, camphor to decongest, and ground almonds to gently exfoliate away dead skin cells.

2. Look at your cheeks

Check to see if you have blemishes or enlarged pores here. If you do, apply dots of the Eve Lom Rescue Mask only where you need it, and then pop on a thin layer of the Eve Lom Moisture Mask to hydrate and plump up. It contains a blend of skin moisturisers that help to condition and replenish dry cells, so your complexion stays glowing and soft.

3. Look after your eyes

It's never a good idea to put an intensive face mask around your eyes as the skin here is incredibly delicate. Instead, apply a thick layer of eye cream, such as the Eve Lom Time Retreat Eye Treatment. It contains sodium hyaluronate and vitamin E to nourish the thin skin so it stays smooth and line-free.

4. Leave on for around 10-15 minutes

Leave the masks on for around 10-15 minutes, and do something relaxing like yoga, meditation or have a warm bath. Doing something which makes you feel calm will ensure you feel soothed and de-stressed from the day.

5. Finish with a sheet mask

The sheet mask trend isn't about to slow down, especially when it comes to Eve Lom's Brightening version. It contains niacinamide to brighten the complexion and leave you glowing, so when you wake up your skin looks beautifully smooth and luminous.
