We know that being selfie (ZOOM) ready at all times can put your hair under its fair share of strain. Hair can be damaged by a number of factors including the environment, colouring, your diet and heat so isolating one cause can be hard.

For those of you who aren’t sure if your hair is damaged, do a stretch test to measure. Gently pull one of your hair strands, it should stretch and jump back to its original shape. If it’s breaking towards the ends or jumping back to a curl it’s likely your hair has suffered some form of damage. To help,we’ve curated the perfect combination of products to help strengthen your hair and reduce the appearance of split ends to createhealthylooking lengths.

Shampoo & conditioner

Nourishing your damaged hair starts with your shampoo and conditioner. The Extreme ShampooandConditioner formulated by the professional experts at Redken, are powered by ceramides and an RCT Protein Complex. The formula effectively rejuvenates weak, brittle hair to help minimise breakage & split ends, without weighing down hair. Another great combo to use is the Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo and Conditioner. The products work to gently cleanse whilst helping to moisturise and repair your dry, damaged and chemically-treated locks. With a conditioning plant-based blend the conditioner leaves it soft, smooth and shiny.

A weekly mask

Once a week or whenever hair is in need of some extra TLC, we suggest indulging in a hair mask. The Resistance Masque Extentioniste from Kerastase, as loved by Stef Williams (@stef_fit) is formulated with proteinsto help improve strength and elasticity and replenish moisture. The Aveda Botanical Repair Intensive Strengthening Masque Rich is also great to deeply fortify and nourish locks. It helps to repair the appearance of damage, giving every strand a healthier-looking sheen that’s softer and more touchable with a lustrous shine. Harnessing the potent powers of plants, the treatment mask boasts impressive deep conditioning action for the perfect way to finish off your hair care routine.

Heat protector

After cleansing and conditioning its essential to protect your tresses before styling - especially when handling damaged hair. Play Safe, the 3-in-1 hair treatment from Redken, offers essential protection up to 230°C. Applied to damp mid-lengths and ends, the innovative formula seals hair fibres and visibly reduces the appearance of split ends by 70%! Now you can blow-dry, straighten and curl without harming your luscious locks. Another great heat protector is the Heat Protection Spray from Beauty Works.Suitable for use during drying, straightening and styling, the non-greasy spray is formulated to replenish hair and shield from heat damage to leave you with smooth, manageable locks that have ultimate shine.

Hair stylers

If your hair is damaged it is important to invest in tools that will minimise heat damage further. Our favourite is the holy grail of hair stylers for troubled tressed, the L’Oréal Steampod 3.0. This innovative tool forms a progressive take on hair straightening, allowing you to style your hair safely and professionally, cutting process time in half and boasting 78%less damage than an average straightener. Another great tool is the BaByliss PRO Keratin Lustre Straighteners, a pair of professional hair straighteners with keratin-infused ceramic plates to help strengthen hair. Perfect for all hair types, the straighteners have been programmed with ten digital temperature settings (140°C-230°C) to suit your hair type and texture, and feature a memory function for convenience.
