3 easy Halloween makeup looks to recreate at-home

Creeping up on us yet again, spooky season is here. Whether you're looking to go cute or scary this year, we got the ultimate jaw-dropping inspo from NYX Professional Makeup expert makeup artist, May Hogan with these 3 easy-to-recreate looks for any skill level.

Sparkly spider's web

Step 1: Prime the skin for your creepy crawly creation using your favourite primer

Step 2: Draw your web! Using a black liquid liner, draw four lines, evenly spaced from the outer corner of the eye to the middle of the lower lash line, flaring outwards to create the frame for your web. Connect these and complete your web by drawing horizontal lines curving inwards between each of the vertical ones.

Step 3: Add your spider by drawing a curved line down from the second wing down of the web and adding a circle for the body and 4 legs either side.

Step 4: Add some sparkle! Thinly apply a glitter primer or glue. Then, using a flat-edged brush, add the NYX Professional Makeup Metallic Glitter in Goldstone directly on top of the primer.

Step 5: Set your spider in place using a setting spray in your chosen finish.

Blushing bats

Step 1: Prime the skin using your favourite primer to help hold your makeup in place for longer.

Step 2: Using your blending brush and a bright pink hue, add a bridge of colour across the nose and cheeks, swiping up towards the temples. Use the brush to blur out the edges into your skin.

Step 3: Apply a small amount of the NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Primer across the eye shadow and then, using a brush, dab a small amount of the NYX Professional Makeup Metallic Glitter for a subtle, shimmering look.

Step 4: Draw on your bats and black detailing using a black liquid eyeliner. The ultra-fine precision tip makes the liner easy to control for fine detailing on the wings.

Step 5: Add a dark swipe of colour to your lips.

Step 6: Enhance your sparkle and ensure your look lasts with the a glowy setting spray.

Circus clown

Step 1: If starting on a bare face, apply a primer tailored to your skin type before starting your spooky creation.

Step 2: Using a red shade, apply eyeshadow to the crease of the eyelid to contour and define the eye, adding depth. Use the same shade underneath the lower lash line to really make the eyes pop.

Step 3: Use a deeper brown shade with a flat brush on the outer corners of the eye and along the lower lash line, blending it out with your eyeshadow brush for added drama.

Step 4: Use your favourite liquid eyeliner, taking the tail upward from the outer corner of the eye towards the direction of the end of your brow. Use the highly-precision liner to also add your clown lines in a spike shape above the eyes and teardrop shape below, running onto the cheek.

Step 5: Using a white eyeliner or cream eyeshadow, highlight the brow bone to add dimension, and add a shine-like swipe of white onto each end of your clown lines, creating the illusion of a 3D finish.

Step 6: Grab a dramatic lip colour to fill the lips and extend the corners of the mouth. This bold, devil red shade really makes your pout pop for an eye-catching effect.

Step 7: Take a black eye pencil or dark lip liner and a flat brush and line the edges of the lip, extending it upwards towards the cheekbones. Blend the edges back into your lipstick to create depth and shadow.

Step 8: Use your white liner to highlight the lips, drawing a line on the top right edge and lower left edge of the lips to create that same 3D effect.

Step 9: Lock it all in place with the a matte setting spray for a spookily good hold that lasts all night.
