The Clear and Defend Plus Facial Wash is a refreshing formula that helps to cleanse the skin, encouraging a clarified, more radiant look. Neutrogena’s face wash is powered by a 4% AHA/PHA blend that helps to even the skin tone and soothe the appearance of blemishes.
A 2% concentration of glycolic acid seeks to minimise the appearance of discolouration caused by blemishes. Gluconolactone, a resurfacing agent, aims to refine the skin, while salicylic acid helps to remove excess sebum. Discover a balanced-looking complexion with this revitalising face wash.
- Application: Wet face. Apply to hands, add water and massage face gently. Rinse thoroughly. Start with one application daily, then increase to two if desired. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.
- Please Note: Avoid contact with eyes. Contains an AHA that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and sunburn. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
- Glycolic Acid: A natural exfoliant found in unripe grapes and sugar beets
- Gluconolactone: A polyhydroxy acid that helps to even the skin tone
- Salicylic Acid: Oil-soluble exfoliant that helps clear blocked pores and refines texture

Okay so I love the sound of this product and what it's meant to do. However I didn't think it lathered very well, nor did I notice much difference in my skin, just to say I wasn't expecting miracles.

Lovely cleanser
I am really pleased with this cleanser. I have blemish prone skin and bumpy skin on my arms and found that this cleanser helped reduce the breakout both on my face and body. It did not dry out my skin and removed makeup efficiently. I highly recommend trying it.

Great prevention
This cleanser is easy to use, the only thing I would improve being the amount of lather it creates! Could do with a little more. I haven't had any breakouts while using it, and my skin feels great after application, not dried out like some brands leave it feeling.

Soothingly good
Neutrogena is one of the beauty brands that I trust and have been using for many years with satisfying results. Their products are safe, well-tested to be gentle and effective at the same time so it was no wonder that this face wash would be amazingly good too. I used it daily as instructed and noticed immediate results by visibly reduced oil and sebum sweats on my face and faster better healing acne spots. I observed far less scarring afterwards. In fact I experienced fewer breakouts too and my complexion is now clearer than ever. Despite the many AHA, BHA and PHA included in the formula, I felt no stinging, the product wasn’t harsh at all. I could apply it daily with no side effects. The bottle is very large so it will last me a long time, I’m genuinely impressed and highly recommend it! I got the product for free from the Home Tester Club, thank you!

Great results

Great for blemish prone skin!
Loved the simple and clear packaging, it was easy to see the main/active ingredients straight away. I started off using this at night then increased to 2x a day. A moisturiser is needed to prevent your skin from drying out. In a short time I saw a huge improvement in my skin, it was the most blemish free it has been in a while and the texture had improved a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing my dark marks fade even more while using this face wash

Skin fresh and smooth
First impression with packaging were good. Nothing fancy and gives you all the info you need on the front. Simple designs like this are always a winner with me. I was excited to try this although slightly dubious i might be left with tight feeling skin but it didnt disappoint. It foams up nicely and i could feel with my fingers tips the grease and dirt being lifted. After rinsing my skin felt lovely and soft with out drying it out (which was a concern due to the little knowledge i had on Acids). I have been using this for 2 weeks now and i dare say my facial marks look slightly improved and my skin texture is the best its been in years
