From 70s patterns to big bouncy bangs, we’ve put together a roundup of the hottest trends that are storming on to the beauty scene. Discover the styles we are obsessing over, and the trends you need to get behind this summer.

Hair repair

This season, people are more conscious than ever about the ingredients they put on their hair. Upgrading your haircare game means being picky with your products, and taking the time out to give your locks some extra TLC. Haircare is the new skincare, and we’re seeing more of our trusty facial ingredients making their way into our hair products.

The ingredients we’re leaving behind this summer? Parabens and sulfates that can irritate our sensitive scalps.

The ingredients we’re obsessing over this summer? Vitamins, antioxidants and naturally-sourced goodness.

For those who want a good hair day all summer long, the spotlight is on rejuvenating treatments that restore and nourish your locks. From providing a much-needed moisture boost, to repairing split ends, we’ve got a fabulous range of treatments to suit your haircare needs.

French girl aesthetic

Binge-worthy Netflix series Emily in Paris burst onto our screens last October, and we haven’t stopped dreaming about our own romance on the French cobbles since. Having always dominated the fashion scene, the Parisienne style is just as influential in the beauty sector, and we’re obsessing over the subtle-yet-chic look of les jeunes françaises.

Get the look:

Live out your own Parisian fantasy and nail the French-girl look with a classic black cat-eye to elongate the eyes. For the cheeks, opt for a flush of feminine pink with a creamy blusher, and top off your cheekbones and tip of your nose with a touch of shimmery highlight. Voila!

Wavy manicures

The 70s came back in a big way this year, and people are still obsessing over the funky patterns that dominated that era. Don’t feel confident enough to rock flares or a psychedellic two-piece? Try experimenting with your nails instead.

Wavy nail designs have stormed onto the beauty scene this year. Loved by celebs such as Kylie Jenner, these funky swirls are ideal for a summer look. The best thing about this style? There are no rules! You can create your waves however you like, with any combination of colours. We’re currently obsessing over a nude base and bright pastel swirls for the ultimate eye-catching look.

Bangs are back

It’s safe to say that a lot of us got a little scissor-happy during lockdown, and whilst some made a hair faux-pas, many of us have been opened up to the world of face-framing fringes! Bangs are indeed back with a bang, and we’re in love with this soft, textured style.

For those that are new to the bangs brigade, styling them can be a little confusing, but with a little bit of practice and the help of our favourite haircare tools, it becomes a breeze in no time. Try using a vented round brush to curl your fringe backwards at the end of your blowdry. Secure with rollers and some trusty fixing spray and you’ve got a one-way ticket to volume city!

Graphic liner

Bold colours are bigger than ever this season, as people begin to step away from their makeup comfort-zone. Having been cooped up inside for the most part of last year, we’re ready to experiment with our look and have our main character moment. This is where the graphic liner trend comes in.

If you’re bored of the classic cat-eye, it’s time to try out a new style. From geometric shapes, to bold colour combos, graphic liner is the perfect way to express yourself this summer. Pastel colours are the perfect choice for a garden party, whilst glitter liners are great to jazz up your festival look!

As someone with an affinity for all things beauty, discovering fantastic new products is my not-so-secret obsession. Over the years I've tried and tested a mountains worth of creams, serums and cleansers, finding some of my favourite 'holy-grail' products along the way. However, I'm always on the lookout for more ways to nourish my hair, perfect my dewy base, or enhance my skincare routine. Working as a beauty blogger for over 3 years, I've been lucky enough to collaborate personally with lots of amazing beauty brands including Christian Dior, The Body Shop and Dermalogica. I've used the Dermalogica special cleansing gel religiously since I first got it and their products are some of my ultimate skincare faves. When it comes to cosmetics, NARS Sheer Glow foundation is definitely my go-to - I live for a light, glowy base!
