The Clear and Defend Plus Facial Wash is a refreshing formula that helps to cleanse the skin, encouraging a clarified, more radiant look. Neutrogena’s face wash is powered by a 4% AHA/PHA blend that helps to even the skin tone and soothe the appearance of blemishes.
A 2% concentration of glycolic acid seeks to minimise the appearance of discolouration caused by blemishes. Gluconolactone, a resurfacing agent, aims to refine the skin, while salicylic acid helps to remove excess sebum. Discover a balanced-looking complexion with this revitalising face wash.
- Application: Wet face. Apply to hands, add water and massage face gently. Rinse thoroughly. Start with one application daily, then increase to two if desired. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.
- Please Note: Avoid contact with eyes. Contains an AHA that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and sunburn. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
- Glycolic Acid: A natural exfoliant found in unripe grapes and sugar beets
- Gluconolactone: A polyhydroxy acid that helps to even the skin tone
- Salicylic Acid: Oil-soluble exfoliant that helps clear blocked pores and refines texture

Does the job
I have tried Neutrogena products before but this is first time I’m trying something from Clear&Defend+ line. Really good facial wash for every day use , cleanses well and face skin feels clean and healthy after use. Fragrance-free and has good acids in the ingredient list.I gave 4 stars just because it doesn’t lathers well, could be more soapy. #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Face feels cleaner
I have been using this cleanser every morning My face feels fresh and cleaner after using. The cleanser doesn’t have a strong smell, doesn’t dry my skin out and is easy to use. The pump pumps out a lot which I found too much so I use about half a pump. I usually have quite clear skin but can break out sometimes. Since using this product I have seen a reduction in under the skin spots but more smaller spots appearing - I know this can happen with Salicylic acid at first so I will continue to use and hopefully see clearer skin soon! #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Great product
I was sceptical about this product but it actually works! My face got a lot smoother then it was and it happened in a week! Really good product, however, might not be suitable for sensitive skin as it has acid in it. #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Effective and surprisingly gentle
I have consistently used this wash for few weeks now and I must say it is indeed hydrating and gentle despite containing salicylic and glycolic acids. I use it as a second cleanser in my double cleansing routine. It has also kept my skin free of spots and post-inflammatory redness. I guess only reason I can’t give it a 5-star is because of the texture and smell and probably packaging as well - it feels like something from 2000s and there’s nothing enjoyable about using this cleanser (which is important factor for me making for my skincare routine consistent). #HomeTesterClubFreeSample

Too harsh for my skin
I love that this Neutrogena face wash comes in a pump bottle, I find these easier to use when washing my face. I also like that it’s non scented. The face wash is thick in consistency which I like. It lathered up really well and was easy to massage around my face. It did a great job at removing all my make up and made my face feel throughly clean. My skin did feel a little tight afterwards but this was easily sorted with a moisturiser. The second time I used it was a different experience. My skin felt irritated after the second use, my eye area in particular felt tight with a slight burning sensation. My cheeks were red and felt warm to touch. I think the face wash and its ingredients may be too harsh for my skin even though my skin is usually quite tolerable to most things. I used it one more time after this and had the same reaction so stopped using it. #HomeTesterClubFreeSample
