Hello everyone! I’m Charissa from www.charissarae.com and I’ve kindly been invited to be BeautyHub’s blogger of the week just to have a little chat giving you some insight to me and my little old blog.
I’m fairly new to the blogging community as charissarae having only blogging for seven months; I can’t wait for charissarae’s first birthday though. A lot of people are always curious as to what inspired me to create my blog and the honest answer is simply that I had nothing else to do. I’d dropped out of university and had far too much time on my hands so I decided I needed a hobbie to keep me busy. Although I had always read blogs, I’d never considered doing it myself so this gave me the little push I needed to start up my own blog. Now blogging is all I want to do, it’s the thing that has been missing for me as cheesy as it sounds. Before when I used to talk to others about our future they seemed to have it all figured out whether they wanted a career in teaching or in the medical profession whereas I never really knew what I wanted to do, but now I’ve found it.. Originally my inspiration to blog was just simply my passion for all things fashion and beauty related. Then I realized that people were actually taking the time to read what I had to say and even more so enjoying it, so now I’d say it’s a combination of my passion and my readers that inspire me to blog.
I’m besotted with all things beauty so my top five products I’m enjoying using at the moment would have to be Alpha-H liquid gold, MAC studio fix fluid, Urban Decay eye shadow primer potion, NAKED flushed palette and finally Benefit’s fake up concealer. I recommend them all so if you don’t have them at least try and get a sample and see if it works for you, then buy them! Even though I already have a pretty extensive collection of beauty and skincare products,
I’m forever lusting after more so lookfantastic have asked me to pick five top products from their website. To me this is just another excuse for me to make a mental wishlist come payday. Everyone will be bidding adieu to the intensive moisturisers from the cold weather and finally making the transition to their summer make up and skincare so it’s important to get stocked up.
I don’t deal with hot weather very well; make up literally melts off my face, so I tend to tone down my make up during the hotter periods in the year. However I still want to keep the make-up I am wearing refreshed so I will need to get my hands on the Caudalie Beauty Elixir as it gives an instant radiance to your complexion.
Sun protection is essential to protecting your skin during the summer so make sure your foundation or moisturiser has it. I really like the sound of REN’s Photoactive Sun Veil as it’s not just a moisturiser with SPF; it actually takes the suns UV light and somehow activates something helping the firmness in your skin allowing it to look more youthful.
As I’m naturally pale I’m a big fan of getting the fake tan on as it means I can get my legs out when it’s nice and warm. My favourite fake tan of all time has to be Xen-Tan’s Morroccan Tan. I’ve previously used a sample size and it left me looking evenly tanned, brown NOT orange and most importantly it didn’t leave a horrible scent afterwards.
Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Tinted Moisturizer (it has Spf 15 too) will be a great replacement to my usual heavy coverage foundations I use throughout autumn and winter but still allowing me to have an even, bright skin tone.
Finally where would a girl be without an incredible bright polish to go with their tan during the summer? I really love coral shade polishes so Essie’s Clam Bake is the perfect summer shade to me.
My top tips when it comes to taking care of your skin and hair, would have to be that you need to remember that they have feelings too. This may sound a little silly but what it basically means is only use products that you know they can take. There has been so many times where my skin has been going through turmoil and instead of just focusing on skincare and making it better I instead chose to pack on make up in an attempt to hide it, which subsequently only prolonged my bad skin. The same with my hair, sometimes no matter how many products you throw on it will still look bad. Just give it time and it will go back to normal, I promise.
Before I say goodbye I thought I’d try and share some advice for fellow bloggers who are just starting out or even those who haven’t yet but are considering it. My advice would be; don’t try to force yourself into something, just be you. I’m not just interested in beauty so I won’t only do beauty posts and nothing else. There’s no need to be pigeonholed. I like to blog about what I’m interested in at the time which means my blog is always reflecting me. Also, don’t give up if you don’t get the attention you deserve straight away. People will come don’t worry it just takes time, just don’t be afraid of a little self-advertisement to get your link out there!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my post as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
Lots of love,
