When it comes to defining what it is to be a woman, where do you begin? Gender inequality remains hugely prevalent throughout the world, and many women are still treated as inferior members of society. How do you therefore define a woman’s place in the world, when a lot of these women aren’t even given the option to define themselves?
Considering the gender split for the human race is approximately 50:50, isn’t it time we all fought for the rights of women everywhere? The world could certainly be a better place if women were given the same opportunities, options, wage and respect as their male counterparts.
We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” – Malala Yousafzai
You Are Not Defined By Your Gender.
You were born a girl. You grew into a woman. With that, you grew into a world which doesn’t always consider you equal but that should never stop you from achieving your goals. You can be whoever you want to be and chase any dream you want to. Because you are equal. You are fabulous. And guess what, you are amazing.
We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take the lead -Beyoncé
You Are Not Defined (or limited) By Your Job Title.
Whether you’re a stay-at-home mum, teacher, actress or the lady running for US Presidency, you are not limited by your title. My mother stayed at home to look after me when I was younger, and while she believes that she’s not a high-achieving member of the family, I consider her achievements some of the very best. She raised me, comforted me, read to me, stayed with me when I was unwell, was my best friend, and told me off when I was wrong. This amazing lady was at my side all the way through, and continues to be there whenever I need her. There’s no preparation for motherhood, and no training manual. To learn on the job and still raise a human-being worthy of going into the world is remarkable. Thanks mum. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
As far as I’m concerned, there’s no job more important on the planet than being a mom. – Mark Wahlberg
You Are A Woman
You can like dress shopping, and play football all at the same time. There are no rules to being a man, so there are certainly no rules when it comes to being a woman. Do whatever makes you happy and follow whatever career course you want to. There’s absolutely no one in this world you need to prove anything to other than yourself. So go out there, give it all you’ve got, and show the world just what being a woman really means.
So maybe there is no definite answer to the question of “what does it mean to be a woman”. Maybe, just maybe, as women, we have the power to answer this question ourselves and define it the exact way we want to. As individuals. As fighters. As Enthusiasts. As Motivators. As Incredible Human Beings. As Women.
Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. – G.D. Anderson
