Winter wellness is a phrase you hear often in the health industry, but what does it actually mean, and what are the best tips to live by?

In a nutshell, winter wellness is taking care of you and your body throughout the colder months, and it requires a different approach to what you do in the summer.

Immune systems can be lower in the winter, and with freezing temperatures outside, you need to make sure you stay topped up with vitamins and lots of warm clothing.

We have put together a little guide on the best winter wellness tips we like to take on board, and trust us, we come out of December feeling healthy and bright!

Drink Hot Lemon and Honey

The ultimate weapon against winter illnesses, lemon is the boost of Vitamin C your body needs to fight off colds and flu.

Honey also helps to soothe sore throats, and is incredibly anti-bacterial; making it a great virus fighter!

This is best made and taken in the morning, which is when supermodel Miranda Kerr takes hers. It helps kick-start your immune system for the day, so you feel energised and ready to go.

Stay Warm

Sounds obvious, but so many of us forget to wrap up in winter time. Wear layers, which help keep you warmer than one big jumper.

In addition, take lots of warm baths which will help heat you up after a cold winter's day. We love to add in the AromaWorks Soulful AromaBomb Duo Set, which has warming notes of Juniper Berry and Bergamot for a relaxing experience.

Eat your Vitamins

There's nothing more important than eating a healthy diet, especially during the winter months when our immune systems can be low.

Make sure you get at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day to keep you feeling energised and feeling healthy.

Our favourite ones to eat in the winter months are: Butternut Squash, Beetroot, Sweet Potato, Clementines and Pomegranate, as they grow throughout the colder climates, which makes them richer in vitamins and tastier.

Keep active

It can be so easy to curl up in a ball and not exercise at all during the winter months, but you still need to do some exercise, if only a little.

Try doing some hot yoga for the benefit of both exercise and keeping warm, or for an activity that's a little more active, you can wrap up and do some running through a local park. It looks amazing in the frosty weather and also helps you get some fresh air.

Get Sleep!

December can be a stressful month with all the Christmas planning, which is why it's more important than ever to get a good night's sleep each night.

Make sure you get at least 8 hours so your body can rest and recharge, and you get your beauty sleep!

If you are struggling to sleep with all the stresses of festive planning, try the REN & Now to Sleep Pillow Spray. It contains soothing Lavender and Hops to calm and help you relax and unwind.
