A Skin Hydration Routine

When it comes to the summer months, we can lose a lot of skin hydration. This is in part due to the heat, and sun, but also in part to the fact we don't adapt our skincare routines to the warmer weather.

When in the grip of summer, we eat water-rich fruits and vegetables to keep our bodies hydrated, but don't apply the same thinking to our beauty regime. Adding in water-rich products will not help to counteract the dehydration caused by the heat, but also help to keep your skin plumped up, healthy and glowing.

Use a Water Cleanser

Use a water based cleanser, which is infused with hydrating botanicals to leave the skin feeling nourished and comfortable.

Water based cleansers are brilliant first steps in any routine, as they not only help to effectively remove makeup, dirt, oil and impurities, but because they are so lightweight and hydrating, they won't block pores or cause irritation.

The This Works Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water contains a blend of Fruit Extracts and Rosewater to flood the skin with moisture, while Almond Oil helps to condition and soften. The result is a beautifully luminous and cleansed complexion, which looks healthy and glowing.

Use a Hydrating Mist

A hydrating mist after your cleanser isn't a luxurious treat, but a skincare essential. They add an energising boost of hydration to your skin, and help to lock in the moisture from your cleanser.

Omorovicza's Queen of Hungary Mist contains Sage, Rose and Orange Blossom to soothe irritated skin types, alongside Hungarian Thermal Water to lock in hydration.

Use a Lightweight Serum

Serums help to lock in the goodness from your cleanser and prep your skin for your moisturiser. They are the layer that helps your skin to stay hydrated and moisturised thanks to their blend of conditioning ingredients.

Benefit's Triple Performing Facial Emulsion has been specially formulated with a unique tri-radiance complex, which helps to keep your skin's own reserves of water protected. It's also enriched with SPF 15, helping to shield the skin against sun and UV damage, so your complexion stays youthful and glowing.

Use a Moisturising Cream

You don't need a heavy and rich moisturiser to replenish the hydration in your skin. A lightweight yet intensely conditioning lotion will provide as much, and if not more hydration, which will nourish and soften rather than block your pores.

Chantecaille's Water Flower Fluid contains a blend of vitamins, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and antioxidants to hydrate the skin and add a beautiful dewy glow. It's ideal to use in warmer weather as it feels like water on the skin yet provides the protection it needs.

Enjoy a Sheet Mask

Sheet masks help to inject a shot of hydration into the skin when you need it the most. They are great for when you are travelling on planes and want to counteract the dry air, or to use before a big event when you want your skin to look glowy and radiant.

Skin79's Water Sheet Mask is inspired by K-Beauty, and is fortified with Lava Sea Water, which is enriched with moisture, nutrients and minerals to keep the skin healthy and gorgeous.
