Beauty tips for instantly fresher skin in the morning
The mornings might be getting lighter, but with the colder weather still holding its icy grip, it's not getting any easier to wake up and be an early riser.
We have put together exclusive tips on our own morning routines that help us get our days off to the best start possible, and we think you will love it.
Use a hydrating cleanser
The first mistake people make in the morning is forgetting to cleanse their skin. Throughout the night, your skin renews itself and can shed dead skin cells, meaning if you don't wash these away, the chance of blemishes and dehydration increases.
Use a super hydrating yet lightweight cleanser to gently cleanse the skin without disturbing its natural barrier. The Darphin Refreshing Cleansing Gel with Water Lily is a great option as it lightly foams up without compromising your own moisture levels. Enriched with natural botanicals, it helps to give a lovely glow to the skin too; perfect for pre-makeup application.
Dry body-brush and use an energising body wash
Nothing gets your system working quicker than a hot water with lemon first thing, followed by a detoxifying body brush. Start with the body brush at your feet, and work towards the heart in gentle stroke. It can help with cellulite, low energy and dry skin to name a few. Read more about its benefits here.
Dry body brushing is an integral part of my daily regime. It’s a great way to get the circulation going, remove dead skin cells, aid lymphatic drainage, detoxify your system and keep your skin smooth all over - Miranda Kerr, Stylist Magazine
Follow with a body wash that contains plenty of energising ingredients, such as citrus fruits. The Decléor Aroma Cleanse Alguaromes Shower Gel contains lemon and seaweed extract to uplift the senses and revitalise your mood ready for the day ahead.
De-puff the eye area
Everyone should make 10 minutes every morning to spend on their eyecare routine. It tends to be an area we ignore in our daily regimes, but has the ability to make the biggest impact on our complexion.
Try the Estée Lauder Stres Relief Eye Masks, which only need to be kept on for 10 minutes, and contain a targeted blend of ingredients designed to de-puff, revitalise and renew for brighter eyes.
Stay away from matte skin
When wanting to give the impression of beautifully fresh skin in the morning, make sure you stay away from a mattified complexion as it can make the skin look quite flat. If you have oily skin, use your standard products, but then add a highlighter to the high points of your cheek and brow bones for a radiant finish.
One of our favourite products to use for glowing skin is the GLAMGLOW Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturiser. It contains hyaluronic acid, shea butter and jojoba oil to moisturise and protect, while pearl particles add a natural radiance without looking glittery.
Top with the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. Not only is this formula extemely long-lasting, it absorbs shine without compromising on luminosity and glow. Loved by bloggers like The Anna Edit, it's one of our absolute new favourite foundations that's recently launched.
