When it comes to skincare, fruit extracts and natural botanicals are the ingredients of the moment. Coming into the summer months, fruit-derived essences and infusions are perfect to flood the skin with moisture and leave it glowing, hydrated and healthy.

It is believed that any fruit or vegetable with a strong colour, such as orange, red or green is packed full of the most vitamins and minerals, making grapefruit one of the best choices to transform your complexion from dull to glowing.

The Benefits of Grapefruit for the Skin

Packed full of antioxidants, grapefruit is a great fruit to incorporate into your skincare routine as it can help to fight free radicals. These free radicals cause havoc on your skin and are naturally found in the air, caused by pollution and sunlight, amongst other things. When free radicals hit the skin, they don't have anything to attach to, and so try to find the nearest healthy cell, which then causes damage. Antioxidants give these free radicals something to attach to, so they in fact don't cause skin damage at a cellular level; helping to keep your complexion healthy.

Thanks to this, grapefruit is great at helping to reduce blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles, as well as minimising discolouration and pigmentation to keep the skin tone clear and even.

Its high Vitamin C content also has incredible restorative properties: brightening an uneven skin tone, as well as helping to restore balance in oily skin conditions. As it's slightly acidic, grapefruit can also help to alter the PH slightly of acneic skin, and align it with its naturally acidic PH. This means that it helps to reduce sebum outbreaks and the effect of impurities and therefore breakouts on the skin.

Murad's InstaMatte Oil-Control Mask

Murad's Oil Control Mask is naturally rich in both phytochemicals and antioxidants thanks to its Grapefruit content. When applied on the skin, the mask not only helps to control excess sebum production and oil, but also reduces oxidative stress and keep the skin naturally healthy.

By drawing out impurities from the skin with Salicylic Acid, the mask helps to naturally counteract combination and breakout-prone skin and leave your complexion matte and shine-free.
