We caught up with Soph - aka social media queen @soph - to find out how she keeps her skin looking amazing over summer. We chatted through her daily morning and evening skincare routine and discovered her must-have essentials for a healthy, glowing complexion.

Soph's Skin Type

"So first of all, a little breakdown of my skin type. My skin is pretty oily, especially throughout my T-zone, but I do also get the occasional dry patch as I experience eczema from time to time - mostly around my eyes. So I usually go for products that are suited oily skin, but then I use moisturising products for my eye area."

Morning Routine

Step 1: Cleanser

"In the mornings I keep things pretty simple- usually I just start with a gentle cleanser to remove the layer of oil that's built up overnight. Some of my favourites are the La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Hydrating Cleansing Cream and the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. I find that they don’t strip my skin but still leave it feeling super clean, which is just what I want."

Step 2: Toner

"Sometimes I will exfoliate in the mornings too, maybe every other day, and I have recently been loving the REN Clean Skincare Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic. It’s a chemical exfoliant rather than a physical one, and leaves my skin super glowy. I personally don't exfoliate every day, because it can strip my skin a bit too much, but I do definitely exfoliate a few times a week to allow my skin to regenerate."

Step 3: Moisturiser with SPF

"Then before I start my makeup routine, or even if I'm going makeup-free, I always make sure to use an SPF on my face and neck, and I go for one that also moisturises my skin. A great one is the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Great 8 Daily Defense Moisturizer, it's a lovely gel texture and isn't too heavy or sticky, so is a great one for oily skin."

Evening Routine

Step 1: Double Cleanse

"When it comes to the evening, I use a few more products to make sure my skin is nourished overnight. If I’ve been wearing makeup that day, I want to make sure I take it off properly, so always do a double cleanse."

"I’ve recently been loving a cleansing oil or balm to remove the bulk of my makeup, as they are gentle on the skin and do a great job at breaking down the makeup. Once my makeup is removed, I then go in for a second cleanse with a cream cleanser, such as the La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Hydrating Cleansing Cream; Just to make sure all my makeup is gone, and my skin is squeaky clean!"

Step 2: Skincare Treatment

"Next I will use a toner, an absolute classic that I love is the Pixi Glow Tonic- this makes my face feel super clean and give me a nice glow. It definitely makes my skin feel smoother and tighter!"

"Then I have recently started using retinol on my skin, just as a preventative measure for fine lines and wrinkles. A super affordable one that I have tried and tested is The Ordinary Retinol Serum 0.5% in Squalene, which I think is great for the price. If you are using Retinol products, I would definitely recommend starting slow, and going for a lower % at first, as it takes a while for your skin to get used to."

Step 3: Eye Cream

"Then around my eyes (as they can be a bit drier), I go in with the CeraVe Eye Cream, which is super hydrating and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. I also don’t find it irritates my eczema at all, which is super important."

"Sometimes if my eczema is flaring up I will also use some of the CeraVe Moisturising Lotion which also feels amazing, and is very gentle too."

Step 4: Night Cream

"Finally I will go in with a heavier night cream on the rest of my face, the REN Clean Skincare Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream is a brilliant one. That way my skin can absorb all these lovely products overnight, and I wake up to skin that feels nourished and looks healthy."

"I have definitely noticed that taking better care of my skin, and incorporating a few more products into my routine has made a world of difference."
