  • Gentle exercise is great for keeping fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy.  It not only helps to maintain your weight but also helps you to relax, get in a routine and sleep better.  Aim for at least 20-30 minutes daily and choose anything from walking and swimming to pilates, as they are all great activities.
  • Take care of what you are eating. Choose foods high in vitamins, folate and minerals, such as fruit, vegetables and lentils.  Another great food to include in your diet is lean protein, especially fish, which is high in omega 3 and known to help brain development.
  • Listen to your body.  This is the most important part of pregnancy as you will be aware of your body and the changes it is going through more than anyone else.  Change your routine to make life easier for yourself and the baby. If anything doesn’t feel normal or is unexpected, then contact your doctor straight away.
