Natural Makeup Tips

Sometimes makeup isn’t about making a statement, it is about enhancing what you have. Natural makeup seems to be having a real moment, with glowing skin, soft brows and minimal eye makeup everywhere. But we all know that the ‘no makeup makeup’ look is harder to achieve than you might think. We have put together our top natural makeup tips and products so you can look naturally flawless.

Natural Makeup Tips

  1. Get a Glow

The first step to getting that natural glow is looking after your skin. We recommend using an exfoliator at least once a week to use and make sure your face is clean and moisturised before you start to apply your makeup. For an extra glow, follow some of expert dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer’s tips for healthy skin.

  2. Correct, Don't Conceal

If you are worried about redness, acne or under eye shadows and would usually use heavy coverage to conceal them, try a different approach for a natural finish. Apply a colour correcting primer like the Stila One Step Correct to even out your skintone before applying your base.

  3. Go Light

Heavy coverage is a no-no for a natural look. Try out some lighter alternatives like BB Creams and tinted moisturisers instead and then just touch in with extra concealer only where you really need it. It will make skin look naturally flawless. 4. Blend and Set

The secret to great natural looking skin is blending well. Apply your base from the centre of the face (usually where you need more coverage) and blend out towards the edges. We like to use a damp blending sponge like the Look Good Feel Better Flawless Complexion Sponge for the perfect finish. Just bounce it onto the skin to blend any harsh edges before setting everything with a light dusting of loose powder.

  5. Try neutral

You don’t have to totally forgo lipstick and blush with the natural look, just look for tones which subtly enhance. A dusky pink blush like the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Gentle will add shape and a gorgeous flush of colour without looking too obvious. A sheer lip balm and a sweep of neutral eyeshadows like the Japonesque Velvet Touch Shadow Palette are the perfect finishing touch.
