FaceMadeUpBOTW

Hi my name is Thu and I blog over at www.facemadeup.com which is about all things beauty and makeup. I started blogging because not only do I have a really unhealthy obsession for beauty products and makeup, I wanted to help others, especially those with a similar skin type and complexion to me, with reviews on products that work and those that don’t work. Most of the time it’s just an excuse for me to go shopping. Please feel free to stop by.

I am totally honoured to be featured on the Lookfantastic.com blog and thought I’d take the time to share some of the staples in my skincare routine.

Keep Me Cleansed

Ren ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser

I don’t know about you but when I wake up in the morning, my face is glowing. Glowing with sweat (gross I know). So I tend to start my morning routine with (1) Ren’s ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser (try saying that fast) which comes in a whopping 200ml.

It’s made with French clay and not only does it help to absorb excess oil (in my case, serious excess), it gently exfoliates away the dead skin and helps to combat bacteria that can cause the skin to break out. It’s worth noting that it also contains Manuka honey which helps to sooth and nourish the skin. Its a creamy, off -white formulation and comes with a pump dispenser (plus points for hygiene). One pump is all you need on slightly damp hands which I then massage into the face for 1-2 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

As a weekly treat for my skin or if I’ve got a special occasion or a night out coming up, I love to give my skin a full on pamper and a product I love to use and makes an immediate difference to my skin is the (2) REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. This stuff is the Queen Bee of facial masks. It’s gentle glycolactic formulation works to eliminate dead skin that can make your skin look dull, minimising the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and combats congestion and blemishes. The result is skin that looks both renewed and radiant and a complexion that is smooth and flawless. I dare you to try and see for yourself.

Moisture Must Have

For an extra boost of moisture and anti-ageing goodness, I use (3) Ren’s Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil pre moisturiser, which kind of has an acquired smell (a bit like cod liver oil) but if you can withstand that then this is a great product.  I specifically chose this product as it contains Vitamin A which is good for rebuilding collagen (as you age, the loss and breakdown of collagen in the skin causes it to lose it’s firmness and elasticity) and repairing sun damage ( essential for me as I am a sun worshipper).  It’s so super lightweight, fast absorbing and not at all greasy or sticky, making it ideal to use in the mornings pre-moisturiser without looking shiny.

Overnight Indulgence

For the final step of my evening routine, I use the (4) Alpha H Liquid Gold Rejuvenating Cream to moisturise. This is the milder, cream version of the Alpha H Liquid Gold. It is a very light weight cream so absorbs really fast with a slight tingle. It contains 10% glycolic acid helping to gently resurface the skin and to boost collagen production, and Vitamin C which is an antioxident that helps to create firmer skin, a brighter, luminous complexion all the while protecting the skin from everyday environmental aggressors. I’ve notice that when I wake up, my skin looks incredibly smooth and clear.

Liquid Gold Lovin’

About three times a week I will scrap my usual evening routine after I’ve washed my face and just use the (5) Alpha H Liquid Gold which has become a bit of a cult product. It’s more concentrated than the aforementioned and is a bit like having a exfoliating facial whilst you are fast asleep. Again, it’s glycolic formulation works to resurface the skin, boost collagen production and diminishes wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and scarring to name but a few. The results are clearer, brighter looking skin. You can follow it with a serum or a moisturiser but I choose not to for a more intensive treatment. With this being the final step, you do get the tight sensation and a bit of a tingle on the skin but this is completely normal. In the morning, my skin is noticeably clearer and looks rejuvenated and in no way dry at all. Using a chemical exfoliant like this makes your skin much more effective at absorbing products you put on afterwards as its gets rid of the dead skin which just tend to sit on the surface.  This is also great for days when you are feeling really lazy and can’t be bothered with the whole routine. Just pop this on a cotton pad, swipe it all over the face (perhaps not around the eyes though) and then you’re done.

Lip Treatment

I can’t forget the lips. You don’t want amazing skin but dry lips. I’ve recently discovered why everyone raves about it and it’s the (6) Nuxe Reve De Miel. Its texture is one I’ve not come across before. It’s smooth but matte which is great so it doesn’t interfere with any lip products you put on top but creates a nice smooth base (a bit like a primer). I don’t like to carry it around as it comes in a pot so isn’t the most hygienic but keep it on my bedside table to remind me to pop it on before I hit the sack. This has been incredible at reviving my winter chapped lips and I just regret not coming across this sooner. For everyday, on the go, lip moisture pick me up, I like to use the (7) Ren Vita Mineral Lip Balm which comes in a much more practical tube.

That concludes my list of skincare saviours. Don’t forget to pop over to my blog www.facemadeup.com for blogposts of a similar ilk. There you will also find my twitter, facebook, instagram and pinterest details. Thank you for reading and have a great day. x

Major fan of scented candles, Make Up brushes and Highlighter. I’m always on the hunt for those Holy Grail products and my dressing table is covered in more beauty products than I like to admit. As an adopted Northerner originally from Brighton, I spend most my days wondering what all this rain is about. My hair isn’t grateful for the move. Currently loving: NIOD Photography Fluid
