3 Quick and Easy Hair Trends to Try this January

January is the time of year where we like to kick ourselves out of our beauty ruts and try something new. I am guilty of wearing my hair down with a centre part all day, every day; it is so easy to get into a routine and not try something new but with our Beauty Revolution we’re trying to change that.

This January, why not refresh your hair styling routine with these 3 simple and speedy trends. We’re not talking about big hair changes, just little tweaks to your everyday style that can make you feel like a new person.

3 Easy Hairstyle Switchups

  1. Add Some Braids

Upgrade your everyday look with braids. This is a big trend that is sticking with us for 2017 and it is such a simple way to add interest to a normal hairstyle.

If you tend to wear your hair up, try braiding the front or rear section of your hair before tying it up as usual.

If you tend to keep your hair down, why not braid a small front section of your hair and pin it back just behind your ear? It is simple and adds a little extra visual interest.

Make it Easier: If your hair tends to frizz up or slip out of plaits and braids, then prep your hair with Redken’s Braid Aid 03 Braid Defining Lotion. It helps add soft grip and control for the perfect finish.

  2. Try a Different Wave

Textured and wavy hair always looks gorgeous and it is the ideal way to twist your everyday styling routine.

Try using a hair styler like the ghd Gold Classic Styler to add flat waves to the hair; take your hair section by section and press the styler all the way down  the length of hair, twisting it back and forth to create subtle flat waves.

Make it Easier: Make sure your waves have a little bit of oomph by finishing them off with a texturising spray like the Label.M Texturising Volume Spray. It will help separate and add hold to your waves.

  3. Flip the Direction

The deep side part is back and we love it for a bold, leonine look, plus this has to be one of the simplest ways to update your hair style.

For a slick, straight finish, use a tail comb like this one from ghd to create a crisp parting. For a more casual look just use your fingers to make a rough parting.

Part the hair from around where your eyebrow arches for a voluminous, tousled look. This even works if you usually wear a side parting; just switch sides to get that extra volume!

Make it Easier: Keep your parting in place with a quick spritz of hairspray; part the hair and then spray, before holding the hair in place to set for around 30 seconds. We love the L’Oreal Professionnel Infinium Hairspray for a long lasting hold.
