Does Rituals use natural ingredients?
Rituals aims to use as many ingredients of natural origin as possible. The brand uses naturally occurring ingredients such as sea salt, bamboo, sugar and pumice (volcanic rock) as alternatives to microbeads and plastics. In only a few cases, Rituals choose lab-made alternatives when it’s more environmentally-friendly or necessary for product safety and usability. All the Rituals products are cleanly formulated and dermatologically tested to ensure they are effective but also safe for the skin.
Is Rituals a cruelty-free brand?
Rituals do not test their products and ingredients on animals, and the brand does not allow this to be done by any third parties. This has been the brand's vision since its conception in 2000, and Rituals use alternative methods when it comes to the testing of their products, frequently calling in the help of enthusiastic volunteers and friends.

Five ways that Rituals are improving their environmental impact
- Currently, 70% of their products contain over 90% natural origin ingredients. By 2023, all their personal care formulas will be made of at least 90% natural-origin ingredients.
- Rituals offer a wide range of refill options across categories such as body creams, hand washes, and fragrance sticks. By 2025, all its products will be refillable, recyclable and/or made from recycled material.
- In 2020, Rituals introduced recycled PET plastic for their body creams, body scrubs, bath foams, shower oils and fragrance sprays. By 2025, all their packaging will be refillable, recyclable and/or made from recycled material.
- All Rituals rinse-off formulas are entirely biodegradable, so you can use and flush away their products safely.
- For every refill bought Rituals will plant, protect or restore a tree.
