Up your Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, known for its abilities to help the skin look bright and clear. As well as boosting your diet with a few extra fruit and vegetables, using a body lotion with Vitamin C will make your skin look even and perfected.
We hear a lot about Vitamin C in skincare but you can get all the same benefits in your bodycare too. It is a hidden hero for beautiful legs!
We love the This Works Perfect Legs Skin Miracle. It has a powerful mix of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Arnica to help banish any imperfections.
Swap to a Body Oil
Body oils are brilliant for the summer months, as they sink in straight away and leave you with a radiant shimmer. Packed full of hydrating and nourishing oils, they condition the skin without making it feel oily or congested. Make sure you find one with an SPF though to ensure your skin stays protected!
For everyday use, we love the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour All-Over Miracle Oil. An update on the classic 8 hour cream, it is powerfully hydrating but sinks into the skin quickly to leave it with a luminous shine. Just spritz it on, massage it in and go. For an SPF beach version, try the Vichy Idéal Soleil Body Oil in SPF50, which helps given a satin-sheen to your legs and protect you from both harmful UVA and UVB rays.
By swapping from your normal moisturiser to a body oil, you’ll look bikini ready in an instant. For a touch of colour, look out for oils with added golden shimmer too, such as NUXE’s Huile Prodigieuse; it’s like a fake tan without the fuss.
Detox with a Body Brush
Dry brushing your body is brilliant for you all year round, but is especially great before you head on holiday. Dry body brushing helps to flush toxins out of your system by encouraging lymphatic drainage and healthy blood flow.
We love the Mio Body Brush as in addition to the natural boar bristles, it also has rubber massage nodules which help promote circulation even further. Plus, it is deceptively soft so body brushing feels like a pleasure rather than a pain!
Yes, we know it sounds basic but it really is the key to helping your skin look its best. If you suffer with ingrown hairs or bumpy skin on your arms and legs (officially known as Keratosis Pilaris), then great exfoliation will help your body look smooth and clear for summer.
For ingrown hairs and removing dead skin, try physical exfoliants like scrubs. Keratosis Pilaris responds better to chemical exfoliants like Salicylic Acid, which remove the extra keratin that causes the bumps.
We love the Scrub Love Coconut Affair Coffee Body Scrub, which not only smells like a tropical breeze, but leaves your skin super smooth. If you’re looking for a chemical exfoliant then the Paula’s Choice Resist Weightless Body Treatment With 2% BHA is ideal. Just put this on like a normal moisturiser and it will work to exfoliate and smooth.
Try Out Fake Tan
Even if you aren’t a fan of fake tan fan, a golden glow does wonders for helping your skin look smoother and tighter. That doesn’t have to mean a heavy, orange tan; a light golden glow can help naturally contour and leave your limbs looking lovely.
The Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tan can be used on both the face and body to add a beautiful golden glow and also hydrate the skin. It’s enriched with Silk Amino Acids and Coconut Oil to intensely nourish and moisturise dehydrated skin, to leave you with a soft and silky finish.
If you really dislike the idea of a fake tan, but still want to enhance your own golden glow, try a tan accelerating lotion, which helps to boost your skin’s tanning productivity. The Gatineau Lotion helps boost and prolong your natural tan, whilst also helping to hydrate and moisturise; it’s one of our absolute summer essentials!
